Yes, Life is much better. Should of left years ago. Better job, better pay, and great boss. Feel sorry for those still with the company, such a negative place.

Great! I miss my friends some of whom are still at Hoffman, but couldn’t be happier.

Let go after 10 years at corporate and it is so much better, my personal health is better and I’m not angry all the time. Sears was so toxic and so were the executives so happy I am no longer in that hell.

I was laid off in August 2019 at the HE office, even though we all knew it would happen eventually it was still a shock. It was honestly a huge relief to get away from the negative environment. I was very fortunate to have a job offer 3 weeks later. The only thing I miss about Sears are my co-workers, we formed such a close bond going through the stress of layoffs and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to make the same type of friendships at my new company.

Worked 40 years at Kmart loved my job my last store closed in 2017. I had to look in a differant field due to having parkinsons. It took 6 months but i found a wonderful job in a small privately owned business. I am treated great no stress weekends and holidays off . There is life after kmart and sears. Good Luck

I was let go in late 2018. I was out of work for a grand total of 13 days, got a better paying job with a local competitor, and spent the next year doing my part to erase Sears from my market.

Stress free, anything is better than working for sears. Even having no job at all

I too was laid off. Months later and still looking for a job. Companies are painfully slow in filling jobs posted. I'm happy to be away from the mess and mismanaged business.

There is life after SHC. I was laid off after 20 years in Hoffman Estates in April 2019. Eventhough I saw it coming for years, I got comfortable in my role. While I did take the time to build a network of peers, I never really looked for a job. It took a few months after I got laid off but I did find a comparable job. Instead of worrying about my company going bankrupt or laying me off at any moment, I now worry about keeping up with people half my age and project deadlines. I still have worries but I know if I do a good job, I’ll have a job. I never realized the toll SHC took on my health (constant negative news, constant threat of lay-off) until I left. One you leave and land a job, your health will thank you for it. I’m down 20lbs, blood pressure is way down, but the hair is still gray. With that being said, the people I worked with at SHC were the best I’ve ever worked with and I miss them every day.
