He was actually CHK's 4th choice as CEO (others declined) and has clearly proven this job was way over his head. He never hired a COO, because he tries to play that role, which the results speak for themselves. This guy is more of a cheerleader, rah rah guy than a champion having street-smarts, leader of substance, that draw others to follow him.

Ah yes, could not escape a building 5 reference. Don't get me started on that fiasco. Feel bad for some of those guys as they are working under such poor leadership, but that was known upfront. They reap what they sew. That disaster lies on the EVP's that allowed it to happen. On the bright side they did improve an HR metric.

What’s left at “yes men“ or what we call “shoe shiners”..

He's meeting with these people because they are all that is left. There is no one else to meet with. The bigger problem is that those that would speak up, challenge the EVP's and VP's were let go. Take a serious look around at the staff. How many of them have been considered vocal leaders? How many were known for standing up and taking risks for the betterment of the company? They might be good people (some of them) but they are not the answer.

Honestly, I’ve heard more and more lately about Doug meeting directly with managers, engineers, etc. He’s pushing hard and he’s taking action to make sure to people at every level feel empowered. We are grateful he’s finally taking these actions.

The problem for too long has been an EVP that has ignored management’s recommendations and continued to sink $$$ into an asset too quickly. Doug’s biggest failure was having a blind spot with this EVP. If he retired, many at Chk would rejoice.

What can Doug really do with that high debt? He was doomed when he accepted the job.

The last three posts were during work hours and is unacceptable both from our valued employees and investors. CHK employees are hired to do their job, not sit around and play on their phones, computers. Your superiors are watching and documenting, I promise that!
