Thread regarding Optum layoffs

The 2/6 date makes sense but then again it doesn’t

Riddle me this.

If they lay people on 2/6 that would be the same day as the Optum360 Town Hall meeting. That doesn’t make sense to me. That’s a PR nightmare waiting to happen.

Plus the theory that you will not get your bonus if they lay you off on 2/06 also is conflicting. Unless they immediately separate you wouldn’t you still be working for the company on the 2/21 bonus pay-date? Don’t the credit union folks get paid a day early (so 2/20)?

Do I think lay offs are coming? You betcha I do. I am just questioning if it will be 2/6/20.

Attended the town hall this morning and was laid off in my next meeting. Guess that answers that question.

Last February 2019 was also a sizable lay-off. It happened in smaller numbers in some other months but every month of 2019 was layoffs.

Seriously if you need anti-depressants and a therapist because of your job then you should take control of your life, get your resume ready today, and quit Optum. Why live like that? It's only a job.

2/6 date officially communicated today - tomorrow, meetings with those affected will be scheduled early. Not sure of the criteria, guessing based on both review score and / or optum hire date.

The townhall for Optum in South East facility based care advocates commercial was rescheduled for 3/5/20 as well.

The October RIF was on a Wednesday and a UHC town hall was held the next day. There was no mention of the RIF in the town hall. Leadership continued on with everything as if it was business as usual. It was pretty sickening to listen to when over half my team of 15 was let go the day before.

There was a very large RIF in Optum 1 year ago nearly to the day. I know, I had to let an employee go

This was posted on the UHG subsite. I personally know people were let go on 12/23 also, so no idea why that wasn't included... Prior to October UHC layoff were always on done on the Tuesday after a payday.

@4iof+13imZn0V

Fact: Wave 1 of UHG Layoffs/RIF were on Wednesday, 10/02/19.

Fact: Wave 2 of UHG Layoffs/RIF were on Wednesday, 11/20/19.

Fact: Wave 3 of UHG Layoffs/RIF were on Wednesday, 12/04/19.

Fact: Wave 4 of UHG Layoffs/RIF will happen Thursday 02/06/20.

You nailed it. There are town halls all the time. I don't think we should view town halls as a barrier to them letting folks go.... They dont care.

So people think Optum is tomorrow, what;s the giveaway?

I think we are talking about different town halls. I received an email at 11:01 am today inviting us to join in on tomorrow’s Optum360 Town Hall on 2/6 at 10:00am
CST (correction from my earlier post stating 12:00 noon). To be hosted by Paul Emerson from the Irving, TX complex.

Let’s recall that Optum is a big place with lots of divisions. Your guess is as good as mine in regards to this debacle.

Sounds like on 03/05 will be a 5th rounds of layoffs since October.

Optum and UnitedHealthcare tend to have separate layoffs. I agree with the other comment that they have mixed up the dates of the layoffs. No rhyme or reason. The last 3 were on Wednesday’s but this one is on a Thursday.

Just got an email today reminding me of the Optum360 Town Hall meeting for tomorrow (2/6) at 12:00 CST.

I don’t think 2/6 is the correct lay-off date.

Some people's bonus will be getting laid off and not having to deal with this b—s— company.

Optum is laying off on 2/6. It is known who will be laid off and managers typically will not award that person a bonus - but in theory, they could receive their bonus because they are paid through 2/21

Or is it 2/5, since the other layoffs were on a Wed.?

I still see the Optum360 Town Hall on the schedule for 2/6 at 12:00 CST out of Irving, TX. I received an email on 1/28 reminding us of the meeting. Maybe another divisions town hall was moved to March?

The 2/6 lay-off date still doesn’t make sense to me.

Hard to say.. UHC was following an off- pay week Tuesday up until October when they decided to mix things up. Haven't seen a pattern yet. We also had layoffs on 12/23 - Monday of a pay week right before Christmas.

Possibly but UHC also did layoffs on 12/4 as well. I know of a few UHC senior medical directors were shown the door that day.

Maybe the 2/6 is the date for UHC and Optum will be later? UHC did layoffs October 2 and then the Optum layoff was December 4.
