Thread regarding Salesforce.com Inc. layoffs

Toxic. Period...

Guys, Salesforce is a terrible environment that is basically Oracle with better marketing.

The question about whether Marc knows about this is laughable.

As someone who has had a long ride inside the company, I would just say don't believe what the marketing tells you.

It is a toxic environment in general, and even more so if you find yourself working for the wrong group.

Avoid working here if you can - this situation is just one example of how reactionary and unstable Salesforce is.

My heart goes out to those in CSG laid off - like someone above said - very unpredictable, and based on internal company politics and not market conditions.

They are going to have a hard time keeping morale going in that group, or ever hiring new talent, which will get passed on to customers.

The company has been a joke for years, senior mgmt promotion are driven by diversity quotas and politics. There are no true leaders, just professional Salesforce managers many of which don’t even understand the business. I would never work their again and I left on my terms at the top of my game, just couldn’t trust the senior mgmt and leadership. Ohana will continue to be a lie and the organisation is dysfunctional as long as Benioff hangs around. So Just keep hiring flunkies

I'm fascinated by this post. As a former Oracle guy and 20 year technology sales veteran, I can honestly say that Oracle is the worst organization I've ever seen. So am I to understand that Salesforce is as equally bad in terms of culture, people and general collaboration, all but extinct from Oracle?

"Cannot get worse than Oracle." Not true my young Padwan, have been at both + another one of the "oldest and most prestigious" companies and it definitely CAN be worse, much worse. Hope for the best but plan for the worst, have an exit strategy.

Agree. The only difference between Oracle and Salesforce is that Salesforce pretends it’s not like Oracle. The knives are at your back (Salesforce) vs held to your throat (Oracle). Customer Success at SFDC has some of the worst leadership - if not the worst - I have seen in my career. I got out before the lay-off, but it wasn’t a surprise. People who were surprised were not paying attn or they didn’t thing the Ohana would do this. See 2nd sentence above.

My advice: avoid toxic work environments at all costs. You will have opportunities to earn more money. Respect yourself and your mental health first. Do not compromise your mental health and integrity for money, power or recognition.

If you've ever worked for Oracle you'd know this is not true. Cannot get worse than Oracle.
