Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

No vision

Once upon time, people loved Sungard AS for the amazing and talented people who enjoyed working there. That fact alone was a big (huge) driver of both new and existing business. Along the way, Sungard AS invested (million$) in all the wrong products and services (Managed AWS being the latest) while simultaneously de-invested in the folks who made Sungard AS. It's a classic recipe for disaster. Absolutely poor leadership at the top for years (by design?)...they did a great job of bankrupting the company.

For YEARS the company has had no idea what or who it wants to be ... like I said, absolutely poor leadership.

Colo, Network, Security, Managed Services, Private Cloud, Public Cloud (yes they tried that!), DR, DR in Cloud, Managed Recovery, etc. ... surely no lack of attempts, but no vision, no niche, no wow factor.

Means nothing to me. Let's talk about the no raise that is coming a d the 401k contributions they will disappear. All because of the so called educated can't do there jobs. Let's talk about how much he makes and what is pay is like and bonus looks like. The rich get richer on the backs of the workers trying to support customers with no staff. It's all just one big game to them and there golden parachutes

Managed AWS being a product we invested heavily in and is a failure is just one. HPC, Managed Backup AWS, CR-AWS, etc.

All under the watch of JP. And now MR has full confidence in him to develop new products and a cloud offering using Dell/Vmware VXrail. Why would any customer want to buy this from Sungard AS when you can get the same managed services directly from Dell?? Too much vision and not enough factual information.

I don't get it.

Agreed. I was there for many many years when it was a great place to work. My co-workers were amazing. The leadership and top folks completely destroyed that place, on the backs of those who truly built it. It's honestly such a shame.
