Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Eddie is not in the business of retailing. He runs a hedge fund. What don't you get about that by now? His goal was never to run Sears as a retail company.

@xnm agree. there has been a few new faces over the years in management, but a lot of the faces calling shots and making decisions have been the same people. they were getting it wrong 30 years ago and they still get it wrong. they'll always get the business wrong, but they sure wont get anything wrong with all the money they've stacked away while screwing up the company.

When did anyone who owns this company say he expects change? He just says the Transformation is underway. Never said WHO is doing the transformation nor did he explain what that transformation is. Just that it was there.

And everyone complaining that upper management isn't doing there job: They are. they are doing the unexplained transformation. Eddie used to fire management who pushed back. Now he has the staff that says "yes. We are transforming". So he stopped firing people. They are doing what he wants (little) and getting paid for it. While its quite LAME, its what many American workers want to do. Nothing and get paid big bucks.

Stop complaining as if its their fault. Its the fault of a single person. And he owns the place so he can do what he wants.

The Big Lots and Targets, etc. have a clear direction of what kind of stores they want to be. Their management invests money in the stores. Eddie was the smartest guy in the room, according to him, and he thought all that was just nonsense.
