Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

What "What can be done to make amends?" actually means to the people asking it

Questions like this keep popping up here (look a few threads down for the latest installment). This needs to be addressed once and for all.

When someone representing senior corporate leadership (or any senior leadership anywhere) is asking you something like this, what they really mean is this:

"What can we do to address your concerns while still allowing ourselves to keep doing what we're doing, because we're worried that you may get fed up and do something about it, and we know we're wrong but we would rather not change".

UP knows exactly what is wrong with their culture and how to fix it. They just won't do it. Stop asking.

it wasn't a deep question. it was trolling.

Why the hell does it matter who's asking or why they're asking. Yeah it could be from someone in HR, but does it matter? Not one damn bit! I refuse to believe that those knobs in Omaha are that stupid to post on here actually thinking they're going to hear what they're hoping to hear. If they post a sincere question about making "amends", then they better expect some deep hearted and thoughtful responses.

I don’t think it’s even someone from HR per se. maybe just a UP foamer or senior manager. If you’ll notice anytime there’s a good post that’s embarrassing to UP someone will start 4 or 5 semi worthless threads to try and bury the embarrassing thread. Have you ever not cared about something? I have and I didn’t spend much time on it and moved on. That’s what not caring means. UP has people that say they don’t care about this website but are StraightUp obsessed and come on here defending UP and in general spamming the forum with nonsense.
