Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

How many people work at General Electric?

I am interested in the overall number of employees. Also, please share if you know how many people work at Fairfield?

GE headquarters moved from F airfield to Boston in early 2019 tl get tax breaks from Massachusetts.

I read in Boston Daily Business news that when Larry Culp took over, he inherited 7,000 headquarters workers and previous plan was to build an 18 story building in expensive $$$ downtown Boston to accommodate after renting several buildings there including he old Necco candy factory. Due to these huge bloated multi Billion situation waste of money, Larry Culp terminated 2,000 workers and moved 5,000 workers to business headquarters like Atlanta etc but still bloated beyond belief. Fairfield used to have around 200-400 workers in the 1970's where several executives min Schenectady and Lynn reported to. Shocking how they had 7,000 workers just "managing things" instead of manufacturing parts and doing real work like it used to be. REally hard to believe this, but is true

This is why GE is failing now

You would have to define the term "work" to accurately answer your question. There are those who have a physical presence at GE and are on the books as being an employee but don't produce. So can you really count them as a working employee or just an employee. Then there are those who actually produce and get the work done. Some of there are employees of GE and other's are contracted from outside employment establishments to produce for GE. It's a big fuzzy math game that we are obviously bad at in the long run.
