Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

I was laid off in 2018

Looking back, the next 3 months were the best of my life. It was like I took a leak and SWN was gone. I spent time with my family, traveled, had a few job interviews and by the time I accepted an offer, I had a salary 15% higher than what I was making at SWN. I no longer had to listen to Dill Whey spew his BS, nor did I have to pretend my unimportant work was important.

That was the hardest part about SWN. Pretending, falsely convincing myself, that unimportant work was important. Let that sink in for a minute. The next time you're sitting in a meeting listening to your manager ramble on- ask yourself what they're actually saying. They're saying nothing. They've been saying nothing since 2016. There has been no direction since 2016. The company has been at the mercy of a nothing-man since 2016. Yeah, there are a few mundane tasks to complete here and there, but difference making work doesn't exist. Eventually, you realize you only exist to make Dill Whey's fat paycheck exist for as long as possible.

I think I am the 1st layoff of 2020. Was a good run In WV. Knew it would not last forever or at least that long under current leadership. My family and I will be back in Arkansas next week. Best wishes to my ex-SWN family.

C'mon. If you had some time time in this industry, you'd be familiar with the "oil man" accent. Nill Pay has adopted it quite well. It's not often he says "ohl", given SWN has none, but when he does, it's on point with how the old timers who actually found oil say it. That's just one example, but I'm not going to write a thesis on Nill Pay's dialect. Writing a thesis on Nill Pay's dialect would involve breaking down the custerfluck phrase "position to win" as the company loses its a–.

Accent? What am I missing? Is he taking on a British accent like his cohort JB?

Right on. Words in an accent as fake as his teeth.

I'm kinda jealous of his teeth though... and maybe his fake accent too...
