Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

TWO THINGS-sick leave and Sales

WILL HYVEE follow in walmarts footsteps and provide a sick leave policy should a location close due to exposure(this will happen in next 2 weeks..guaranteed...). TWO- i imagine many stores will celebrate a RECORD SALES this past week, Edeker will celebrate saying the CUTS WORKED!

I'm not trying to complain, because I like my job and generally like Hy-Vee. However, the initial response to the pandemic has been slow, reactive rather than proactive, and only seemed to follow the footsteps of what other retailers did first. Wal-Mart, Amazon and CVS announced additional pay of some sort BEFORE Hy-Vee. That's sad.

The labor situation at stores, along with a lack of sick pay, has left employees feeling like they can't call off sick. These are good workers that don't want to leave other workers high and dry with no one to cover. Unfortunately, by allowing a situation in which workers don't feel comfortable calling in sick, we may end up with a far greater problem once this virus takes off in the region. Who is going to cover shifts when a single sick employee, that SHOULD HAVE called in sick, spreads the illness to coworkers and customers?

Hy-Vee could act as a major source of disease spread. The company needs to take the lead, rather than follow, and create an environment where employees feel like they can call off sick if necessary. Stop making decisions based upon PR and press releases. Make decisions to help the company, protect the public, and protect/compensate employees adequately.

Randy Edeker is an ego maniac, greedy, not loyal to hard working employees, tired of him hiring his buddies-gave them big salaries (no experience in the field) while others who should have gotten a promotion and raise didn’t get it.
I can’t stand the logo saying “Employee Owned” . It should say “Employee Owned By Some Employees”. Get honest!!!
Remember God sees everything!!!

Don’t get your hopes up about sick leave.

I am wondering what will happen when they don’t offer sick leave and all employees infect each other, who will work?

Part-timers will not be given any, most likely. Hy-Vee has screwed everyone in every other way, I don’t see this being any different. Randy and his crew cares about money. That’s it. Employees are collateral damage.
