Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Swift karma for corporate greed

Hy-vee execs decide to cut hundreds of jobs, and reduce the hours of hundreds of others, all in past month, then 5 days ago, the biggest run on grocery stores in modern times occurs....and continues. Absolutely astounding how karma has the last word.

Most stores were already under staffed as it was, in regards to cashiers, night stock, and just generally those who are there for the customer each and every day...gawd forbid a director would have to get off his phone and out of the office to throw stock to the sheles....and the assistant directors..

  • and then their assistants....LMFAO!

Talked to one of my co workers who is part time and they told me management told them part timers could have as many hours as they wanted. Full time co worker asked about staying to help out and was told no not allowed. So that's what this company will do: keep there full timers on a leash, let part timers get as many hours as they want and hire short term help.

I worry for the kitchen, grill, bakery,Chinese and deli department. They seem to be suffering the most. Wouldn't be surprised if they start having layoffs in those departments.

Their corporate greed is paying off since they will show huge sales and profits on paper because of this, then use these numbers to get rid of directors and managers a year grim now.

Glad to have retired before this went down, knew sh– was comming. Not that I would have worried about my job but the dealing with some of those I'd have to watch fired and the morale of those left to carry the extra load. Not the company I spent 35 years working for. I thought those fulfillment centers were to be a big flop, you need to have costomers in your store to get the impulse buys none of that is in online shoping. Let AMASON do what AMASON dose, And Hy-Vee do what it used to do, TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER in the store. As of the central kitchens that are big money losers. Best at fresh is to cut fruit and veggies in store the day of. Sorry to all my Hy-Vee family who have been fired, hope you find other employment.

Was in Walmart this morning and they were very busy. Customers Everywhere. Tons of stockers filling the shelves. Then went to Hy-Vee and they may of had 5 cars in the lot. Shelves were wiped and no stockers filling anything. Saw just 2 non HY-Vee GM people doing some reset. So tell me that HY-VEE will be just fine I just do not see the logic of that comment.

These people were good employees and did their work and came to work everyday, but because they were employees who had many years in and were costing HV too much money, they were punished for that. Of course they have a bad attitude after being treated the way they were. Of course, the employees that are left are wondering and speculating about their jobs. Be honest, would you feel love toward the company if this had been you.

Get out of here with that bs! Stores will be fine... especially without people with your attitude. If you spent more than half your shift working instead of complaining you may have kept your job. This site used to be informational and a way for people to communicate what was happening and to share your story, now it’s just a place for people with bad attitudes to b–ch.
