Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Tough Times.............

I know we spend a lot of time pointing fingers and calling for heads on this sight, and I also think we paid more for Anadarko than we should. There were mistakes made that included poor judgement at the top.

But I would say take some time and research the c-ap that is going on between OPEC and Russia. It is just not a simple price war. There are politics involved that play all the way back to our government and the Nord Stream pipeline from the Soviet Union to Europe. You may be surprised to see what really is pushing Putin to try and k–l the shale plays in the USA. On the other hand it is a shame that one man and country can bring our oil producers to their knees, but it is the facts. Plus, a lot of the other states in the US could care less about the burdens our industry is going through. The virus was going to be tough enough to deal with, but Putin saw his opening and has screwed the vice very tight. It is not out of the realm either that OPEC sees their chance to let Putin take the blame, but in reality they are for the shale bust as well. I know in the end that the debt we acquired is the real reason we can't weather the storm better, and those that made the mistake buying Anadarko may pay with their jobs. In the end we would have stood a better chance if the politics had not got to where they are now.

There will be better times, but it will be rough for the time being.
