Walgreen protecting employees against covid-19 is a joke. The store I work in in Spokane only has one guard infront of a register wipes are provided to wipe carts but often run out and nobody bothers to check them until a customer ask . employees have got covid. Walgreens doesn't care.

Is this bonus weekly or one time? Does it apply to Corporate too?
There was talk among managers that the bonus pay is going to be delayed or possibly cancelled due to the corperate office waiting to see what special pay the government is going to pass. Of they pass a second stimulus package for people, then walgreens wont pay their promised bonus pay to employees. As for the 6 foot rule. That means jack sh– when you have customers coming up to you, sometimes right into your face, asking you stuff. And if you tell them to stand back 6 feet, you get yelled at by management. Im a shift lead at my store. The plexiglass shields are useless and just gets in the way more then anything.
The reuseable bag that a customer brings in to use for their purchases should be brought to attention during this pandemic. No reuseable bag are considered safe for reuse during this time. The reason is obvious, contamination. Management should address this concern, as the front end employees should not have to handle these used bags and be concerned about cross-contamination. A lot of issues to be addressed... the a/c filters should also be looked into as this is also a big concern for virus spreading in the occupied retail space.
I work for the specialty side of Walgreens and i think its time as a whole to strike.
Now being laid off and hours cut
Thinking about the safety of the employees is paramount in our roles of essential workers at Walgreens during this pandemic. But equally important, it the safety of our customers. Walgreens should extend safety precautions for their customers by installing/providing sanitizing stations near the entrances and near the point of sale counters. Customers would feel more confident attempting to shop knowing that their cart handle at least has been disinfected with these wipes. As customers use the counters to pay for their merchandise, it would be adviseable to have a sanitizing station in proximity to the counter so the customer can use a wipe to disinfect the keypad prior to making their transaction. As a consumer in grocery chains, I see this practice universal in most of these markets.
As Walgreens motto is Happy and Healthy, action speaks louder than words in this situation. Employees should not have to do continual cleaning and wipe downs all day long for their customers. Providing these sani-stations are optimal for both customer and employee alike.
Walgreens Employees should stand up for there Rights.
What's Walgreens going to do if there Employees decide not to show up one day because of Corporates Greed.
Walgreens has SO embarrassingly slow to react to this whole thing - at least in the call centres. There’s been no real communication to call Centers about anything. Everyone’s attitude is so flippant. Myself and others have told management we’re not feeling well, there’s a chorus of coughs all day in the building. We get our temperature checked when we come in, not by medical staff but by a supervisor who has nothing else to do at the moment, tell them you’re short of breath and well no fever you’re fine. NO measures were taken to protect employees until the last couple weeks - removing chairs from a break room and having maintenance clean more often. And they still don’t care and are slow to react. 100 emails about store changes and links to the cdc website but nothing what they’re doing for us because they are doing nothing. You risk your job if you call out sick, if they’ve changed the attendance policy no one told me.
Walgreens is a company with greedy leadership that cares nothing about its employees or the customers. What they care most is only their public image and how much money they are making for shareholders, even at the expense of the safety of their workers ( and families). They drag their feet and do the minimum, making excuses, while other companies are already doing much more for their own employees. They will only act when pressured by the press that impacts their brand. What a shame for a company trying to market itself as a health company. It is quite sick and disgusting. They made bad financial decisions and now use the lives of their own employees to make up. Sick.
Walgreens isn't going to stop profiting off of us until we are hospitalized
Walgreens is making a nice profit because of this situation. I’m sure all corporate suit people are working from home. $300.00 is a very sad bonus for working thur this with little protection supplied by Walgreens. We have to supply our own masks. Most employees are extremely disappointed with Walgreens treatment of their hard working employees. Way to go corporate.
Most stores are not having customers return items during this pandemic. Walgreens has not addressed to stop returns on merchandise. It is important to get the customers in and out of the store as quickly as possible. Items being returned could be contaminated with virus and the cashiers who are handling these items are exposed to a higher risk of contacting this disease.
Walgreens should implement a NO RETURN POLICY at this time. Customers should not be waiting in line or should be returning contaminated items. For the health of the cashiers, employees, and customers, Walgreens should enact this no return policy as other retailers have done to ensure protection and safety for their hard working employees.
I work in the DC. Barely following or enforcing precautions. I’m also only a temp. I’m sorry but Hair dye and makeup are NOT essential. I highly believe someone at least one person has the virus and they are keeping it on the Down low. Definitely not worth dying for, and if I have to, I’ll find other employment elsewhere. I’m also 7 months pregnant and they do not care.
WHERE IS THE PLEXIGLASS..AND HAZARD PAY????
PROTECT YOUR PEOPLE NOW..NOW ...NOW!!!!!
This is ridiculous. I haven't been to work in over two weeks. I had to self quarantine because i have symptoms. I live in Wisconsin and they are not testing mildly ill individuals. Therefore walgreens won't do anything for me unless i actually do have it. In the meantime i still have a fever and as days go on, i am worried that I may have to risk coworkers and customers health just so I can earn an income. Walgreens should be ashamed of themselves. Also i started December 3rd 2019 so it has been over 90 days so why haven't earned any PTO? And i checked my average hours and they say 0. How? So not only do walgreens policies s— but their system does as well. How can I earn PTO time if my hours aren't even being averaged out.???!!!!!!??????!!!!!!????
The only precautions we've taken are minimal. Tape to keep customers 6 feet away, really flexible taped on plexiglass and has to be re-taped to the counter daily, we clean maybe once or twice a day, and we are advised to just use germ-x between customers. No gloves, and no masks provided. Our hours are now 9am-9pm, and we still get a steady amount of people in our store. Our pharmacy still remains open, and they still have 2 pregnant women working 10-11 hour days with no protection other than a mask. The bonuses are a joke, and we are pressured in to working even if we say we feel uncomfortable during this virus. Not only are we risking our health, but we are also risking our families when we return home. I get the pharmacy aspect, that people need their meds, but surely you could close the store front and provide DRIVE THROUGH ONLY? If fast food restaurants can implement that and still get business, I imagine other retailers could, too. What a ridiculous company. Making millions, but can only offer a small bonus IF and ONLY IF you stay until the end of April. What a joke.
$300 one time bonus? Don't forget the 2 weeks paid time off...oh but you also have to show you were infected by COVID 19. That should cover the care for the rest of your family.
All registers and whole store is left wide open for patrons. No regulation except the coveted masking tapes on the floor. Way to go Walgreens for going the minimum distance for the safety of your team members and community.
Their poor staff is still overworked with minimal protection. Especially being a pharmacy and supply store. I've seen sick pharmacy personnel still working back there. What a great way to share the sick.
Do BETTER!
PROTECT your dedicated employees!!!!!!
300$ is laughable. How about
MEANINGFUL compensation for the little people who are making you millions while risking their lives at minimum wage??
Where is the PLEXIGLASS to protect your upfront cashiers???
SURELY you can do better by them!!!
We should take this VERY SERIOUSLY! You have a company making you believe that what are you doing is essential and asking you to risk not only your life, but also the lives of your love ones, your immediate family just because they want to take advantage of this situation in order to try to save a company that has been sinking for a while now and that keeps loosing money.
They offered $300 to full time employees and $150 to part-time employees. A one time bonus. So, what the company is telling you is that your life and the life of your love ones is either $300 or $150.
We the employees of Walgreen have to make a stand together. Don't go to work first. No money is going to help anyone if you manage to get the virus and die from it or worse, make a family member die because of you following the LIES of Walgreens.
Second, lets sue their asses for not providing a safe environment and equipment to their employees during a national emergency, for not been in compliance with OSHA, for Lying to its employees with a b—s— video and email saying and recommending not to use gloves or masks. Those a–holes delivered this video from the comfort of their home, completely safe while you place your life at risk for them.
I decided that MY life and the life of MY FAMILY are my priority, not Walgreens. So, I will not go to work no matter what. Money is not important when the price of it is your life!
Tons of associates are testing positive!!its only a matter of time before they have to shut these down and do drivethru only...if doctors and nurses are worried about being safe we should be worried!!
Walgreens is now implementing a bonus for its employees during the corona virus. But unfortunately employees are not granted the bonus pay if and only they stay employed until end of April. Wow, I cant imagine that employees will have to possibly wait to catch the virus before they are bonus compensated! Shame on you Walgreens!
As other retailers are installing plexiglass sneeze screens for their employees, Walgreens has yet to comment or better yet install these protective devices for their employees working at the cash registers. Only offering social distancing blue taped markers are not effective for the cashiers who are face to face with the customers at check out. A plexiglass sneeze screen should be a mandatory requirement for retail cashiers as the possibility of contacting the virus is rampant with such close proximity to the customers/cashiers. It only takes only sneeze or cough to be infected! A smart move for Walgreens to follow the health concerns for their employees as other retailers are doing! A six ft distance should be mandated not only for customers but cashiers too!
Walgreens should let employees take temporary leave until this virus is gone. This is not right.
Walgreens is not doing anything to protect employees or customers from the covid19 virus. Either close or go drive thru only or I won’t ever shop Walgreens again because they are being ridiculous, caring about making money over the safety of society.
Manager told us to come in sick to work. No information in how to protect employees and having to deal with ignorant customers. Manager told us not to use hand sanitizer and that this is just like the flu. Minimal help from corporate. I’m very concerned for me and my coworkers.
Is the distribution center closing in indiana o highway 6
When I worked at Walgreens Corporate office, they had an open seating policy. No assigned seats in the area. I saw multiple people sharing the same seat on the same day without wiping it down. Recommend all companies suspension the open seating and assign seats for the duration of this pandemic. If it is a work from home day, no one should sit in the assigned seat.
Wonder what the CDC or Board of Health would have to say about that?!
My str mgr isn’t doing anything!!! No wipes for wiping down the counters , we had to ask him to str use Lysol !!! I think he could care less just like this company could care less !!!! They just see the money their making , better yet they can’t Waite for when we get in the hand sanitizers and face masks!!! Walgreens doesn’t care about any of their employees !!!!
