Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Future store directors

This question is for the current MRO and HyVee U students. How do you guys feel about the new changes. Do you still have a strong desire to become a store director or store manager? Did the store director pay cuts effect your future to stay with this company or to look for jobs outside of HyVee?

1 year ago I decided to jump off the wagon to becoming a store director and I was very worried. It was such a good sell to me when I was 19, I aspired to be a director my entire career. But 10 years later now I’m so glad I made this decision. I would feel defeated if I were still in the pipeline.

Part of me thinks HyVee leadership feel that all of us are sheep's They don’t think we need an explanation of why we are changing. They also feel they don’t answer to the employees. I agree how they handled this situation is wrong. Why isn’t Randy on the podium right now trying to rally his troops. 80,000 strong employees just waiting for orders Instead he has gone quit. The only time he peaks his head out of the office is to close stores or fire employees. Randy give the employees a goal! Don’t just tell us to make more money or else your fired. That’s not how you rally your troops. Explain and inspire Randy. It’s your time to become a real leader or a big failure. The choice is yours.

For the people that have worked for Hy-Vee the answer is probably YES it has affected the way they view going into upper management. I can say for myself it has changed my whole out look.
Not saying that some change wasn't needed but the way it came about was totally WRONG way of handling everything UNLESS Hy-Vee is in that bad of shape. I think that is where all this speculation comes from is that no warning was given and info wasn't passed from upper management to store directors to employee very well at all. That is not the Hy-Vee way and we at store level were always told Communicate Communicate Communicate and they did not do this at all.
If Randy and all the top heads at Hy-Vee would have just said hey guys we gotta do this inj order to survive the next 5 10 yrs and beyond or none of us will be employed at Hy-Vee and given a [lan of action as to how we were going to get there it would have gone 100% better than what we have now.
It seems even now that Randy and the rest of them are in denial that they did anything wrong to there employees to which we all are shareholders in the company. Most of us feel betrayed by them in not telling us themselves and not telling us anything, about the situation.
