AWS had the lunch, then they had dinner, slept, had breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day and for many, many days afterwards.
Then, Ginni Rometty sometime very, very much later, thought maybe she might take a look at the "cloud" thing. Late to the table, very late.
It is worse than that. I saw slide decks that had been shown to senior management as far back as 2009 and 2010. This means they ACTIVELY DECIDED NOT TO DO CLOUD which in my opinion is worse than passive ignorance. Although this definitely dates back to Palmisano, Ginni is absolutely guilty of continuing this (and other) bad Palmisano policies until it was too late.
