Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Class action Lawsuit

Any one the stipulations for a class action lawsuit?
I'm sure that somewhere some way Hy-Vee or the store directors didn't didn't follow the letter of the law in every instance through this whole mess. At this point we need to find those or that instance and see what we can do to help those we can.

I was definitely discriminated against because of my age/longevity with the company. I watched it happen to a fellow co-worker before me. Experience isn’t a blessing with Hy-Vee it’s a death sentence. If you’re over 40 and make decent money you won’t be around long.

How are they getting around reporting all of these layoffs to Workforce Development? Is there no requirement to offer affected workers more than two weeks of severance? Is anyone being offered outplacement services? Were they given tax breaks for building fulfillment centers and if so states should get that money back. So sad to see how workers are being treated!

If they’ve targeted “long term” employees that could also be a target of age discrimination. It would be a start. It doesn’t have to be blatant known discrimination...disparate impact and treatment. So it could be age based (protection over 40 years old).

No they did not. I’m still looking through it all to find where they screwed up in the eyes of the law. One thing I’ve noticed is they found ways to get around not having to report the real amount of employees who were laid off.

My husband, who has worked for HyVee for 24+ years and who is set to retire in 2 years, received a decrease in pay recently. This is the second cut we have had to endure in 2 years. He was cut $760 per month when taken from 45 hours down 40 per week with no overtime. The second round came last week when he was cut $5 per hour. This decreasing his pay by $800 per month. I am on disability and with the cost of health insurance and the cost of living it makes it very hard to make ends meet. We already have found ourselves digging into his retirement account to which at this point will leave little to actual retire on.
These actions are obscene to treat a loyal, hardworking employee this way.
It seems they want to cull the long term people who make more and replace them with part time employees.
This being said the motto of a helpful smile in every Eisner will soon become a myth.
