CoronaVirus: President Trump Proposes Employee Tax Relief & Paid Time Off

The President is proposing Paid Time Off and Tax Relief for hourly employees.

In tonight's press conference he said he'll be meeting with business leaders.

I wonder how Mr. Ellison and Lowe's will respond to this?

ROME - The situation surrounding the coronavirus has become so extreme in Italy that an Italian association of anesthesia, analgesia, resuscitation and intensive care is proposing an age limit for people to be admitted to intensive care . Moreover, people who are more likely to survive should be given priority.

"It may be necessary to set an age limit for access to intensive care," the document states. The association considers the measure necessary "to reserve funds that can be very scarce for those who are primarily more likely to survive and secondly to whom more years can be saved", it says further in the paper of the Siaarti association.

In Italy hospitals are full and collapsing. They’re discussing about leaving older people without medical care as they can’t accept everyone and they need to maximize the years of life saved instead of the number of people. #Coronavirus #Covid19

I'm confused, why is this down voted? The vast majority of us don't earn enough to pay more than payroll and get money back through the EITC, so what good does lowering taxes do exactly? Even if you increased the EITC nobody would get that money for another year.

How about that socialized medicine in Italy? Sorry if your elderly you won’t get assistance with covid -19, medical care is being rationed for those that work.

Every American should be embarrassed that this country is scrambling to produce/distribute testing kits when the medical experts where predicting this months ago.

Nobody had specific information on the strain until December. Even labs with the strain say a vaccine has to go through trials. Only gilead has d–g test in China at this time. As for testing kits, 1 million sent out on Friday another million sent on Monday. A coworker of mine was tested yesterday, the doctor said it wasn’t corona virus, he was kept in isolation and the lab results were the same day. Now the problem is on the state and local level. How long will they take to calibrate their own test equipment? How long will they take to get the tests to clinics? Will they make it affordable with the emergency grants they filed for, or will they siphon off the money for their own political causes.

Don't want to get into politics but this country has minimal stimulus levers that can be pulled to stimulate our own economy when the world economy is poised at the brink of a global recession. I fear more for those that are directly inflicted by this virus as their medical bills could conceivably lead to either bankruptcy or even death (if uninsured or the medical infrastructure gets overwhelmed). Some BS tax stimulus is not going to help them. Every American should be embarrassed that this country is scrambling to produce/distribute testing kits when the medical experts where predicting this months ago. If you are following what is happening in other countries this is going to get exponentially worse before it starts to show any signs of slowing. The stock market should be well down on our list of concerns.

The paid time off is for the hourly employees in the stores not the salaried corporate privileged traveling around.

Tax relief? What am I, a hedge fund manager? Lowe's doesn't pay me enough to owe anything other than payroll anyway.

This was discussed in last weeks manager meeting. If an employee has traveled in infected areas of the world they will be ask to stay home for 2 weeks. It will be covered by Lowes and no need for Loa. Also if you are traveling you need to let management know.
