Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

How do we get the media involved?

So as we all know, no major media outlets in iowa are covering this correctly. Does hyvee have them in their pockets or can we get something done? Personally, i have already lost my job. I have no issues talking to them about the ins and outs i have seen in the last 10 years of service. I just want the consumers to know how they have treated veteran employees during this "restructure"

WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, did a story 3/13/20 at 10 pm tonight on the Hy-Vee layoffs. Thank God there are people trying to get to the truth. Hy-Vee continues to misrepresent what has happened to all of these employees and how they handled it. The number of people unceremoniously let go is staggering. Even though many have the same at-will employment terms and job title, some received severance and benefits, while many did not. It was left to each store director to decide, creating disparities with absolutely no consistency. Hy-Vee is not being truthful. Thank you WHO-TV for seeking the truth and bringing it to the light of day.

TV stations need people to speak on-camera to do a story. If anyone is willing to do that - email news@whotv.com with your story ideas.

No story because it’s not a story... a couple employees layed off per location is nothing. Chances are you’d figure out that all companies make the same type of changes regularly, so to single out Hyvee would make it look like they are attacking them. All they will and have reported is the press releases that come out. Sorry this happened to you but unfortunately it’s not newsworthy.

The big media in our markets are reluctant and unlikely to get involved. They don't want to run the risk of alienating a big advertiser like Hy-vee. Once again the almighty dollar wins.

Trust me Hy-Vee has found a way to make it ALL seem ok with the media. Meanwhile us employees are literally waiting for them to "make up a reason" to fire us....demote us....restructure our jobs. Or outright close the Market Grill's that have hundreds of employees. I really thought job security and Hy-Vee went together...I'm sadly learning otherwise.

You can buy ads in the paper. Come up with enough money and buy the front Page of the Des Moines paper. Buy the spot on the front page won’t be cheap. The best way raise money to buy the front Page would be to start a go fund me page on Facebook. HyVee employee can donate and family and friends. I would donate 100 dollars to the cause and I quit 2 years ago. Run an ad requesting randy to be fired. If you get enough money you could even run tv commercial asking for randy to be fired.

Independent outlets are ur best chance. Email people who have a podcast or YT channel with big audience. Joe Rogan or The Young Turks.

I dont have the best opinion of our news networks. You think they are holding out for bigger news such as bankruptcy or selling the company or going public?

They're staying out because there's bigger news coming. How clueless is everyone?
