Many companies are telling folks to work from home, eliminating travel, and cancelling conferences. What is Allscripts doing to prevent its employees and the spread of the virus?

Believe me, the primary reason for WFH policy is fiscal. Corporate America has already been warned of inability to win lawsuits by employees infected in the workplace.
@3htr+13URqFi9: Well, since India is reportedly the heart of Allscripts, does that mean AS is basically on life support?
If the company does not allow everyone to work from home then it's being socially irresponsible. This is a serious public health issue that goes beyond corporate profits.
"If your role allows" hurts. School is cancelled until further notice here but we still have to swipe in at work if we don't want a shared germ cesspool desk.
Today we were encouraged to work from home for the next 4 weeks starting 3/18. This email applies to all but in India. The email indicated India associates would get their own message.
The email did acknowledge that some may not be able to work from home. In that situation, employees were encouraged to work with managers on other options. The letter was from Executive VP.
Pandemic strategy? Social distancing. Make workers come in and get infected. If they stay home, lay them off. Laid off workers forced to pay COBRA to get well on their own dime.
@eqo+13URqFi9: they did that last year in NC. Maybe the new consultants can review those decisions and conclude what the workers have: there's no better way to k–l productivity than being surrounded by loud mouths who think they're conversating in a bar.
Layoffs
In one location, they are getting rid of two floors and are going to use the saved money for decorating to make the remaining floors look more colorful. Employees who aren't there to swipe in at a 60% rate are at risk for losing their permanent desk and will have to check out a shared "flex" desk as a result. PTO is not exempt from the 60% calculation. It feels as through they want employees to catch something at this point.
