Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

Let's all complain, together.

Air your grievances. Tell me your story.

Try to keep conjecture about the future to a minimum. This thread is about dumb decisions that got us here, not what will happen in 6 months.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Profanity warning.
I literally bust my f—ing a– every day for people who don't give a sh– if I have two nickels to rub together. Jerked around on my schedule. Missing holidays. A pittance raise with no review. Good people around me dropping like flies, the lucky ones allowed to interview for other positions for less pay. Meanwhile corporate f—s stroll through without a care in the world.
And then let's talk about that remodel. That arduous 18 month period where we gave up our bonus checks, worked in dangerous conditions, and were told things would be better on the other side. HA! The store is objectively worse and everyone knows it. Years later I STILL don't get a bonus check.
Salad Bar completely ruined. Market grill is a f—ing anchor. Meat department squeezed together like sardines while the Chefs station sits empty for years. Backroom designed by someone who has clearly never operated a pallet jack in their life. Confusing split aisles
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Running out of pre-ordered items in the ware house, all the time. Complaining about that and being told we’re not pre-ordering early enough.
This always blows my f—ing mind. How are you going to run an ad on something that you know is gonna sell then not have enough inventory??
There's a hidden cost when you run out, if people cannot rely on you, they won't come back!
Forced sales pushes of c-ap nobody wants
Micromanagement
Unused dieticians
Terrible ideas for the market grill (which was a bad idea to begin with).
Terrible part time help
Stupid 4 hour long award ceremonies
Not giving people enough notice when fired
Running out of pre-ordered items in the ware house, all the time. Complaining about that and being told we’re not pre-ordering early enough.
PDI is a sh– wagon at best.
Not enough warehouses or distribution centers
Running too many ads
Wasting money on celebrity commercials and ridiculous hype campaigns that nobody cares about
Seasons magazine, huge waste of paper
Making employees wear those god-awful beanie hats. They look stupid, feel even worse to wear. Makes you seem like a walking gimmick instead of someone that knows what they are talking about
Making employees from departments run all the way to the front of the store because grocery has cut too many hours in bagging and checking. Do it the other way, new hires get trained in one dept and bag and check, then they help the departments when traffic is slow. Departments make the profit margin bigger, grocery does not
Pay new hires at least as much as Wal-Mart, Costco, quick Star, and maybe we can get real help, not just the people that can’t get hired elsewhere
Compete with quick Star by stealing their business model, not this fast and fresh and clothing c-ap. Dumbest ideas since that wonderful market grill we keep reading about. Get new gas stations to look like their stuff. This is a no-brainer.
Get better recipes and formulas for your pizzas. They are so generic and bland. Many older stores have great pizza recipes and we never use them.
Quit moving sh– everywhere all the time. It confuses customers, many of whom are old. I can’t believe I have to spell this one out, but it’s the biggest complaint in every store, and literally nobody above grunt level employees do anything about it. You can do seasonal resets, do seasonal displays, but just keep stuff in the same place if you expect to sell it, completely not hard to understand or figure out, but seriously, nobody in management has figured this out.
Need Mr. Ric Jurgens back. All the new management wants is to hob nob with Mark Walberg. Couldn't care less about employees. The last 6 years a quarter an hour raise per year. Inflation is more than that.
