Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Where are we now with layoff predictions of the past?

16 mo since the first incident
12 mo since the second incident

We should remember those who perished, always.

11 months since the 737 rate reduction
3 months since the suspension of production.

Let's count the layoffs...ZERO. Wow, that was quick.

Schools are closing now which means parents will have to stay home. My guess is temporary furloughs starting this Friday.

Layoffs coming due to corona and lack of airline traffic. No need to build any planes except military programs.

I agree and Boeing's in full support of the removal of the tax break. Boeing's been considering moving out of Washington State for years, I'm thinking massive layoffs then they will move production after the tax break ends. Probably to the east coast to get away from a union shop. Any idea when that tax break will end?

They are just waiting for the WA legislature to remove the tax incentive Boeing requested them to remove. When it's done the company will no longer be obligated to keep the employment levels that were part of the tax deal. Layoffs will happen

@1xog and a Boeing stock that plunged from $330 to $230 in a couple of weeks ... no more money for buybacks ... According to one financial source, they can only pay 30% of short term short term debt at maturity. That was before the crashes.
If they consume that $13B (and chances are that they will), Moody will most likely downgrade their debt to Junk. Current bond grades are just a notch above that rating with a negative outlook. Not good. Boeing will join the GM, GE, ATT, and Ford junk bond club.

Guess what! All of your pensions are stuffed with Boeing stocks. The book value of one share is equal to minus (-) $15. Yes that's right. It is not worth 0. It is negative $15.

Boeing cannot be bailed out. That would be a subsidy from the US Government. That would revert a multi-million WTO case against Airbus and tariffs.

Law suits, Junk bonds, negative book value, no bail-out, and 40% baby boomers on their way out .... ouch!

All the id–t posting is still ridiculous. The only reason no layoffs have occurred so far is Boeing got bailed out -13 billion.
Stocks are tanking, FAA doesn’t accept Boeing’s BS regarding unsafe wiring harnesses on all 737s. Factor in Corona & it doesn’t look good. Calhoun opened his mouth & exposed how he really thought, of course he had to backtrack it but the damage is done. Something’s gotta happen at this point, they can’t CANNOT keep paying people to stand around. Shareholders probably got their fill of Calhoun after he let slip his true feelings. He’s the best they could do? Time will tell & I reckon it’s very short. Between airlines slowing down, Corona & the FAA, something will give in the Boeing corner. Bravo if they can ride it out, but they’re swimming against an even stronger current, as of of today & anyone who trusts Boeing leadership at this point is high.

You know what’s going to be more funnier is this newer generation of lazy f**k sitting around doing nothing at the Everett, having to find real jobs & actually work to make ends meet when Boeing folds. Whether it be tomorrow, a few years from now, or ever a decade. Boeing got something up their sleeves, throwing away money is not good business practice. lol

They let him lay there:
Family wants answers from Boeing on death of Seattle employee

Within hours of being admitted, Sanders was brain dead.
His family took him off life support and he died Sept. 3.

Sanders’ family is demanding answers but getting little information from
Boeing as to why it took an hour and 24 minutes for Sanders to reach a
hospital from the plant off South Myrtle Street.

“It’s barbaric,” said Sanders’ wife, Julie Braunschweig, 57.
“It’s despicable. Someone needs to answer for this. …
They let him lay there.”
