As employees of HyVee it had long been understood that we sacrifice many things that people take for granted. Open24 hours a day until recently. Thanksgiving”too bad work”. Christmas Eve “too bad work”. Easter “too bad work”. No holiday pay or Sunday premium. No time and a half. Twenty four years in and worked 23 Christmas eves. The thanks I got! My position was eliminated but they only docked my salary by 20k. At least I didn’t get to spend holidays with my children and family like everyone else.
