HyVee will come out on top with these new changes. We have solid leadership and Randy to right the ship. Any other staff would have crumbled by now. Retail companies like ours are going out of business at a record pace. We have the autonomy to make quick changes and to be relevant for the future. Most HyVee stores have bloated labor costs that is just being wasted. Why do we need to pay store directors 200k to 400k just to make poor choices running their stores. Now because store directors failed to execute a sound business plan hyvee is on hard time. Now Randy is left to pick up the pieces. The only thing Randy did wrong is to give store directors a chance after chance to fix their stores. Now he has to be very direct on how to fix stores and to become profitable again. Don’t blame the guy willing to fix the problem and save the company.

Bring back Ric!!! "Make Hy-Vee Great Again"
All of the people blaming the store directors ask yourself, did 250 store directors turn stupid overnight? Everything is dictated to them by Randy, from pricing to display size. It's 100% him.
Funny thing about voting. At director meeting we pick up voting buttons at each meeting. They haven’t actually been used for 4 years. Used to use them all the time.
As a former 21 yr Employee, middle management at the store level, I know my facts!
HyVee "Market Griils" Randy FORCED them in almost every Store because " they are the future". Randy is a megalomaniac that has micro managed the company into the ground!!! The number of Vice presidents in the company has almost tripled since Randys was place as CEO!! Some of them had never worked a day in a grocery store but they had the college degree and a "yes sir, how may i kiss your a– attitude!" To many chiefs and not enough Indians. The controling/voting stock at HyVee is owned by Store directors or higher. The touted employee owned stock has NO voting rights, it does pay a decent yearly dividend. This CEO should have been removed years ago, every one at the store level knew it. Ric Jerguson, and Ron Pearson FAIL to do their job in picking leadership to take HyVee into the future. It almost looks to me like they are cleaning out all the old, highly paid employees, to make the company more attractive for a buy out. Can you say Krogers?
Change the name on the front of the stores from Hy-Vee because Dwight and Charles are flipping over in their graves to Randy done F’d Up . It’s much more fitting
Randy is the head football coach. He has been calling all of the plays. Now we think he has the ability to start calling the right plays to win this game. Get out of here.
Please help me understand how this is any different from working for any other company? Layoffs and firings happen each and every day. Companies everywhere are conatanstly evaluating their business model to see where there are opportunities for improvement? Every business has to look at how they can do business in the most effecient way, the most cost effective way, all while working to remain competitive. Yes, resources are being reallocated and they SHOULD be. Honestly, I think the store directors should have been fired and someone OTHER than the one who made the mess in the first place be given the opportunity to reset. It's no different than hiring a new head football coach in the NFL. People expect change. This is no different.
Funny how corporate jackboots on here never talk about doing the job of three people, or trying to sell a pallet of force-shipped garbage and still being expected to reach sales goals. It’s like tying a bathtub to your neck and being expected to swim. Plus all our part time help are people who cannot get hired anywhere else, we’re low on the pay scale, and poof, there goes any kind of dependable labor.
And by the way, I’ve never had a store director just sit in the office all day. In fact, I believe this stress has completely ruined the lives of many store directors, don’t believe me? Ask Brian Hickson. That market grill nonsense tore my store and others apart, but we’re the problem? Just complete corporate f%c*e#y. A poor musician blames his instrument, a poor CEO blames his help for his poor decisions. And that guy walks out with millions?
sounds like people are blaming the employees themselves for how bad the stores are doing and not making sales. As a department manager who just lost their job, I can tell you it’s not easy to get sales when corporate keeps forcing directors to cut hours and help in the departments . I had three people helping in my department, then it was cut down to one but I was still expected to still get everything done in a timely manner without overtime! Talk about impossible! Quit blaming those who worked their asses off , we had no part in RE’s s@@t show!

This is definitely one of RE’s yes men. What a joke. Worked for the company 20 years, left in January because I saw the writing on the wall. I tried to warn everyone and they all thought I was nuts starting over after 20 years and losing my pay and benefits I earned over that time. I knew I was making the right decision. I know at least 10 people who have lost their jobs now and positions.
20 years ago I was so proud to start with HyVee. So proud to work for this company for so many years. It all started to change with Curtis Stone. Then the grills came in and I knew what was happening.
RE is no Ron Pearson. He will never be a CEO people talk about in the future with respect. Unless, you’re one of his a– kissers.
Did Randy post this? Lol
A good CEO finds a way to survive another day!
I just did the same thing. My director told me they picked me over the other dept manager to run frozen and dairy. She offered no extra money for the extra work. They fired the frozen manager and and thought I was going to run two dept. well just walked out today after finding a new job with better pay. Now they don’t have a frozen or dairy manager. Burn that ship
A good CEO wouldn’t blame others. Maybe he should step down and retire with the millions he has made off of hard working employees. Who ever wrote this article should be ashamed of themselves.
You are right in one aspect though. There are a lot of poor store managers in this company. No doubt because of a who you know or the old boy network.
Hyvee was able to hide them when corporate did their job effectively. (before Randy)
I put my notice in the day my Director started "reallocating" people. Told me my job was safe, I was going to order grocery, frozen, and dairy. More work for the same pay? Just to have the privilege to work for Hy-Vee? No thanks. So glad I found a better company to work for! I'm sad for my co-workers, but it will be enjoyable to watch Hy-Vee burn down.
You are a real tough guy picking on a person that just lost their job.
Don't worry ,they will come for you eventually.
This is isn't the proper way to run a business.
I see why your store director picked you to fire. Employees like you are the cancer of HyVee. Blame everyone else because you failed your dept. you do realize directors were able to pick who they got to fire. You sir were the weakest links. HyVee is now stronger with you gone. Who the id–t that just got cut because they failed often.
Randy must be the one posting all the positive about himself. But those of us who have been at Hy-Vee 20 plus years know it is Randy himself who is out down fall
let you go for one of these 2 reasons. You kept failing to hit the Healthmarkets gross or your dept was not doing enough business to justify having a dept manager. Or maybe it because of your potty mouth??? - I believe the person you were talking down to wasn't just health mkt mgr but essentially over HM/HBC/GM, however, the fact remains many health markets are swamped with ridiculously insane amounts of forced ships, that couldn't possibly get sold at a decent profit before expiration, making it difficult to keep above target gross. Corporate has become increasingly disconnected from real life in the stores . And getting fired with no warning for 'supposed performance shortfall' shows a company acting in desperation now. I have to congratulate hyvee however on keeping this bloodbath flying under the radar from media and the public, sales will take an even bigger dive once it all gets out .
Guess what is the cure to all of these problems. If store directors would running theirs stores correct we wouldn’t need to cut staff. Directors need to hold
Their manager of staff accountable for their work. They spend to much time hiding in the office. That 6 people not working the floor. Cut the useless manager of staff to half.
Gross!!!!!!
That is one of the problems with Hy-Vee and why prices are too high.
You jacka$$'$ think gross is the only thing that matters, really?
That is why you pricing the consumer right out of your store.
And just a little bit of friendly advice...gross percent doesn't mean sh@t, it's gross dollars that matter. You can sell 2 bags of c-ap for 80percent gross or you can sell a pallet @ 25 percent .
id–ts.

As a former Manager of Health Wellness and Home who just was eliminated with no warning... f— right off
All those store directors that turn in bad inventory results are to blame. Directors all have excuses why they didn’t make their number for the quarter. They blame their dept managers for bad results. GUEES WHAT ITS YOUR STORE. You have hired those people. Either get out of your office and teach dept managers how to be successful or fire them. Allowing them to not hit their dept gross Quarter after quarter is k–ling HyVee. Stores need better store directors with leadership skills. Directors hold your team accountable for their department.
Randy is a absolite mo–n. Hes throwing the company in the toilet one failed project after the next. Please continue to be the hyvee pr guy who was paid to write this post.
which yes man is this?
