Total Comp for Principal Engineer (SW)

Can someone chime in. I see glassdoor and levelsfyi info but it seems off.

I'd appreciate any input.

I'm about 20% above the upper range below for my tittle. However, I don't think I am overpaid. I know many people of the same title as mine having total compensation 30%-40% more than me.

I guess I am seriously underpaid based on those numbers even after including bonuses and rsu. I am staff engineer in San Diego btw.

I agree, those numbers seem to be right for San Diego when including bonus and RSU.

Bonus and RSU are subject to change at any time, no guarantees.

Maybe a little high, but if you consider base+rsu+bonus, they are about right... least for the title I'm at.

  • Senior Engineer – $140K to $170K
  • Staff Engineer – $190K to $240K
  • Senior Staff Engineer – $220K to $280K
  • Principal Engineer – $350K to $390K
