Anticipating a 20% or more loss of revenue/profit caused by Coronavirus closing routes and Boeing aircraft grounded, not receiving FAA AIRWORTHINESS certification anytime soon, cost savings from voluntary buyouts for flight attendants with 15 years or more of service and age 55 or older is an extremely viable option for American Airlines.

Great timing! This cost containment strategy has been successfully utilized many times in the past as America West, as US Airways, and then as part of the acquisition and merger with American Airlines. My hope is that current shareholders see this kind of action as affirmation of proactive management policies and positive employee relations.
