So a local Kroger Specialty Pharmacy staff here (SoCal) found out that their lease would not be renewed and the store would close in June.

If the lease is about to expire, there’s a chance the store is closing.

I no longer work for Kroger. However in my time with the company as an ASM, I did work at a store in Lexington, KY which was closed.

We had our division’s Controller visit our store a couple times to discuss profitability with the store management team. I would also expect to get visits from district manager, and what ever they are calling the remaining coordinator staff as well. Finally you would get visits from the divison president as well. Ultimately the decision would come from the division president of their intention close it as well. And the last part would be the divison HR team in coordinator with the district HR team trying to place all of the hourly employees in sister stores in the area. The process as a whole took over 6 months from possibility to completion. However it was a low volume store which had been rumored to close for years. Hope that helps.
