We absolutely could WFH and uphold high productivity. Going against every recommendation and common sense, we are being ordered to the office. I work in a sector that is eminently capable of operating without physical presence in the company.
Layoffs or no, people will leave in droves at the first opportunity. They won't do it now during this phase of insecurity, but rest assured they'll be out the door at the first sign of the job market recovering. Until then, I foresee many of them laying low and doing the bare minimum.
It is a real shame. We were once a highly motivated team that really went the extra mile. The way the company is handling the pandemic situation just wiped out years of organisational and professional development in one swoop.
I'd probably be less aggravated by it if I believed that Broadcom would ever change - but this is one game where you can only win by not playing.
WFH won't make any difference if the global economy goes into total recession. Instead, might unfortunately end up with a LFW (Looking For Work) situation if you get laid off.
The world economy is being infected by COVID-19 and is getting sicker everyday. Recession will happen sooner than later, with layoffs to begin rapidly spreading across industries. No company, including BRCM, will be immune... :-(
Layoff time comes soon
Every technology (Software) company has already moved to WFH. Crickets over here...
Why doesn’t broadcom allow WFH like other companies ?
