Keep your money. It’s yours. You don’t owe them anything at this point. They haven’t had a contract or a contract renewal where they haven’t given up more than they have gained in over 20 years. If you are a FL worker you have lost thousands of dollars per year due to increased dues and health care costs that are not covered by minuscule wage increases. Put in your notices now!

Company would have treated worse without that contract (that, had bargained for years ago thank God and those members). At least the seniority was preserved....could have been worse. Company was no sympathetics or saints for sure.
Yup, in New York IBEW didn't have a hair on their behinds for so long (anything gained was by those from 30 years ago). With what Frontier/Global Crossing did to us over the last 20 year the IBEW should have been on the streets, throwing rocks and bottles, setting fires and turning over police cruisers. Should have been every Contract violation taken to court. They walked (the company) over us repeatedly for every little thing, should have been the other way around. While they (IBEW) enjoyed conventions and ate pasta.
Cancel em quick before union scams you and comes up with some bogus rule that you can’t cancel while company is in bankruptcy!
To all you union hacks who think that I need your support and pay you the $1300.00 a year!! Well I’m gonna tell you a little story. I work outside ( where men are men and inside people like sheep) and I had an incident with a rear end accident. Yes my fault. So I followed procedure and reported it and blah blah blah. So I come in that night late. Boss was sitting there, he said nothing I said nothing. On my way out I asked, so when we going to handle this? He said, I’ll call your rep tomorrow. Tomorrow came and boss said rep can’t be here today. Then I get a call from rep. He says , Don’t talk to boss and it wasnt your fault and he’s gonna give you a week off without pay. So it’s Friday and I tell my boss. Hey I don’t need my rep, let’s do this. I man up to face my punishment. Rep gets wind and suddenly isn’t busy. He walks in I tell him to take a hike. So he sits outside after a few choice words from me. Bottom line. Boss suspended me for two days. A half day on Friday and the following Monday. I had a four day weekend. Sure I took a small haircut in pay, but I left with my integrity and my accountability in tact. Also my boss was still a douche but there was a little respect on both sides. So no but kissin just be a man. Union just guys who want to get out of work.
I cancelled mine yesterday. I never felt so liberated. Will I still receive union desk drops?

Congratulations to Gary Jones, former UAW President, he is the 14th person charged in the corruption scandal involving the auto union. As I mentioned before, although I was then blacklisted because layoff tries to silence people, this is what the union offers people-an opportunity to be a victim. Unions are no longer needed and this is why folks like cletus try to keep you drinking the koolaid. As for unionstrong that is saying they are no more powerful than elected officials, google the elected officials from the UAW to find the other 13 officials who were embezzling union dues. Keep trying to defend the real enemy, the truth always comes out.

Yup every contract was ratified by membership. Because the Union said to accept the contracts because that was the best they could negotiate. They were all too quick to accept a garbage contract with Verizon just so they could hand over FL to Frontier at a lower cost to them! Meanwhile they all keep their cushy jobs and jack up dues. What a scam! IBEW sold out FL at the expensive of its members in the form of corporate welfare to Frontier.
Nice theory but once people realize that the union these days is just a good old boys club out for their own interests then nobody wants to get involved. People don’t want to waste their free time on an incompetent union. They would rather spend it with their family and friends. Paying union dues is a total waste of your money.
Unions are no different than any other governing body. You my friends have voted them in and empowered them. The are not appointed!!! If you are not happy with the representation you paid for then change it by voting or become active. If the membership stood together, the leadership and company would have no choice but to listen and act on your concerns. The "here is my couple dollars", do nothing and b–ch approach can NOT work. You are the union, use your numbers. Every contract you have was voted, accepted and ratified by you, not the leadership or company. Accept your part! Please stop paying dues so Walmart can fulfill their greeter positions :) and those who are thankful for their fair wage and benefits can unite in solidarity.
Realize what? Realize that IBEW hasn’t done a thing in the last twenty years. Why don’t you name something of significance they have achieved for the membership recently? And Aunts and Uncles for bereavement leave doesn’t count. Ok go....

Can’t wait til this company you all love to hate finally tanks and you no skilled uneducated overpaid pos finally have to work and get paid for the minimal skills you possess... then maybe just maybe you’ll realize what the union did for you. Most of you aren’t qualified to flip burgers and if you did by chance get the opportunity your work ethic would have you kicking rocks back to the unemployment office. Enjoy your paid vacations while they last you’ll be dreaming of this horrible job one day when you’re getting evicted from your trailer and cant afford your next fix. SMH
I went to two union meetings and officially call bs. ALL they did was provide hot dogs, talk about how Frontier would not negotiate, and approve expenditures for travel. What are we paying union dues for, your hot dog party?
Strike?!?! How can anyone afford to strike given everything IBEW has lost for its FL employees? People are making less now than 5 years ago because the piddly raises do not even begin to cover the healthcare that they lost for us!!! And on top of that they keep raising the union dues. IBEW caved when push came to shove with the Last Verizon contract just so they could hand over its FL employees to Frontier with a nice little bow wrapped around them. They sold each and every one of us out just so they could keep their cushy union jobs. Enough is enough. Everyone needs to cancel their dues...maybe then IBEW would wake up and do something for its FTR membership.
They pay for airfare and hotel for their retreats/conferences they are always going to and for company cars for union management.

Some of you are ridiculous. Your Union is only as strong as your support. Most of you that complain have never showed up to a rally to support your Union during negotiations. Your Union needs leverage from YOU. If you don't support them during negotiations then they have no bargaining power. Most of you would NEVER strike if called to do so. Also, your anger should be towards the Company and not the Union. It's not the Union that is taking your benefits, it's the Company.
I think canceling union dues is a great plan. That way when a contract runs out employees just no longer have a contract. They can treat us all like they do management. I mean our managers haven’t been screwed over at all by the company. They are never worried about their jobs or health care. They aren’t expected to work extra hours without compensation. They don’t get laid off just because their lips aren’t attached to their bosses backside. They have a great job

Cancelling your union dues is a catastrophic mistake. The Union will not fight for members that stop paying their dues. Be smart people. This is your union so keep paying your dues.
