Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Coronavirus

Once again Enbridge is not putting safety first and this time it is with its own employees. Other major oil companies have already shut down travel-Enbridge Execs sent out the most vague coronavirus safety letter yesterday. We have employees flying all over the place for meetings and trade shows. For what- to bring back the virus/flu and shut down the company and spread it to their family members. There are people already coming to work sick and no one is even checking. I know of one person that was out for a week with the flu and came back to work still not well and guess what they got the flu from an immediate family memeber that got it overseas. You should ask questions if your employee was out with the flu- but nevermind the manager is in another city and probably isn't smart enough to notice.

WHO stated that 80% of people that get the virus will have very mild symptoms

Field folks are not expendable .. its just that they are in the field in there vechicles or working on an equipment.
Max amount of people in a station is less than 20 compared to the offices with thousands of people.

Where the spread could happen faster

WHO has declared it much worse than the flu. its a fatal sickness with no cure in sight for at least 6 months to a year.

Downplaying its severity is not only dumb but dangerous

So field folks are expendable? Sounds selfish. Maybe just wash your hands and do basic preventative measures, call into meetings etc. If your healthy this is no worse than a common flu. Media has done nothing but get people scared. Yes, i will get on a plane for work tomorrow.

They need to have every one work from home apart from field folks. For 2 weeks so that it slows down.
eventually one person is going to bring it into work and then boom.

the virus works like a bomb

You do not know real horror. Not until you have been in the Calgary 18th floor bathroom facilities, frequented by employees of the Security Operations Centre. They say never go full nuclear, but these folks didn't get the memo

Your bathrooms are clean as an operating room compared to the men’s room in Superior after the explosive sh–ter has done his deed in the morning. Careful if you visit there, you cannot unsee it.

Agree that the bathrooms at the LEGD VPC office are often gross, especially at the end of the day. My theory is that there were WAY fewer women working in the office the last time any significant bathroom renovation took place. Now there are just way too many people using the same badly designed bathroom space and not enough cleaning happening during the day to keep pace with all the use. Last I checked, REWS was mostly older men and they mostly appear to be the type of older men who would probably be happy to piss into a plastic water jug after drinking a six pack of Coors Lite (it’s the way or the road!) ...so I’m not surprised the complaints are going untended. In 2019, there were construction signs up for months at VPC that said “MEN AT WORK”... so I think it’s fair to assume REWS is a little bit out of touch with the 30% of us who don’t pee standing up.

LEGD bathrooms are the dirtiest I've ever been in. I have contacted facilities and management on two seperate occasions and no action was taken.

The washroom doors in the annex area are BLACK with grime.

Why don’t you take these concerns to Enbridge people who can get these items fixed? Why don’t you take concerns regarding staff sick in the office to your leader or call the internal ethics and compliance number and it will dealt with in a respectful manner. Posting on this website is not the way to get concerns addressed. Be part of the solution not the problem

In one LEGD building multiple bathrooms have multiple sinks that don’t work ... in the worst case there is a bathroom that has only 1 functional sink, and it is the only bathroom for the entire floor of the building! It has been this way for Over a year. Facility work request submitted but there is no fix???

I have long been disgusted by the lack of hot water and decent soap in the Calgary washrooms, even before the current Corona Virus scare. I complained to Brookfield but nothing was changed.

Hand washing is an effective way to prevent the virus’s spread. I’m surprised the managers in charge of Calgary facilities allow these unsanitary conditions to continue.

The Calgary office doesn’t even have warm (let alone hot) water in the washrooms. And the soap is diluted with water. Helps Brookfield save money, but leaves me feeling disgusted. I bring hand sanitizer and avoid shaking hands.

They should just SHUT DOWN travel now. No one wants to travel while this stuff is going around. Just think it will be an easy cost savings for the company.
