The only way to fix this is to get more supervisors. They need less stores. Some supervisors have 30+ stores and are required to do every new store setup and every remodel. This means that they are only allowed to get into stores once every six months. Give them less stores, have a separate remodel/set up crew- THATS NOT what supervisors are for, and give them a chance to get into stores and make a difference. Unfortunately over half of all department managers don’t know what they are doing, or are making mistakes that the other half know not to make, or are screwing up their inventory and no one even knows it. Let the supervisors get into stores, help with inventory, help with rpm, help with training, help with schedules, help with game plans, and share what is working... actually help the stores. I understand where you’re coming from but surprise visits and busting chops is not the answer... that’s what they do now, lots of one sided communication. They need to get in there and help stores. Plus, with these changes, they need combo grocery/dairy/ frozen supervisors to help with everything in those spots as times are a changing....
