I remember when I was asked “hey where you working at?” I said the railroad, and they would say wow that’s a great job, it would take a act of Congress to get you out of there. Just yesterday I was asked again, I said railroad, they said oh I hear there’s nothing but money issues and layoffs. I thought to myself what happened to this great company.

Hey I used to be in my 40’s also! Coincidence?
I’m in my 40’s I have to say I learned so much railroading from old timers, hard work and tricks to make things easy but I also learned things from youngsters. Let’s not have a generational judgement debate. I’ve met old lazy men and young lazy men.
Why yes, yes we are. Hahahahaha
Uh oh looks like some boomers and managers are triggered.
Here we go again....."the younger generation blah, blah, blah" The boomers raised the younger generation. So there is that.....don't mistake your fear of leaving the rut your stuck in with "I'm a hard worker"
I agree, boomers are willing to work hard for their money. This younger generation expects to be given lots of money and great benefits for nothing and damn sure won’t do the hard work. Unfortunately there is no easy work on the railroad except in TE&Y 🤣
It’s mostly boomers who think it’s a great job. Most younger generations can see it isn’t.
