Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Corona Virus

With it being such widespread, what is Amazon/wfm doing to protect their employees? Florida region is a tourist mecca. Do they even care?

WFM claims to have all sorts of newly implemented procedures for safeguarding employees against C19, but their actions do not extend beyond policy statements. There are no established "hand sanitizer stations", and my WFM manager told me today that it is WFM policy NOT to provide sanitizing gel, in a comically simplistic effort to get employees to wash their hands more often.
Ill-considered management practices on many levels, which are then followed to the letter by blindly obedient manager drones - as usual!
Watch soon for an upcoming announcement from WFM that they've completely resolved the 'Opportunity' of COVID-19, simply by changing its name. (WFM has an entire department at HQ who's in charge of managing 'opportunities' by changing what they're called.)

Sorry, i just reread the glove comment and see your store has no way to sanitize your hands at the register. In this case I would support glove use.

I have mixed feelings about this. It could be off-putting to see grimy gloves that are stained from money touching customers raw lettuce. At least hands can be sanitized easily and wiped dry as they get dirty. Gloves may hold more bacteria and viruses and pass them along to others. At least skin has some beneficial bacteria. The reality is that cashiering has risks from being exposed to so many people.

On a side-note, I find it gross when customers do not use produce bags then leave their raw romaine lettuce on the belt where chicken was just sitting, then the bagger handles it and puts it in the customers filthy cloth reuseable bag. I would pass at having a salad over that person's house.

Wholefoods stores in my area will not allow cashiers to wear gloves. There are no sanitizer wipes for touch areas and no hand sanitizer!
Just leaving their employees at full risk!

Do you think they will be testing employees at some point?

Today around 3pm they put a hold on all non active demos and samples. We had to pull all opened testers from whole body and destroy them. We had to make sure all the applicator tips for mascara were cut off so that people would have to use the disposable ones we provide but makeup testers may still get pulled in the coming days. No more sample domes for the time being either. They are taking this pretty seriously out of "an abundance of caution". Less work for us is a bonus.

They have put restrictions on travel. All upcoming travel has been cancelled. Future business critical travel needs approval from the highest leadership group.

Other than that, I don't know what other precautions are in place.
