Thread regarding CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield layoffs

Out of Touch CEO - watch the video - how about that equity...

I was at the CEO meeting in VA - watching our out of touch, rich, white CEO - sipping on an expensive Starbucks – until he became "thirsty" - so he pulled out a more expensive Fiji water. Way to be the "common man". In this time of belt tightening - I guess all the animals aren't equal.

I don’t care about the coffee or water, but I do care about how he continues to brag about being one of the most ethical companies...while acting in a pretty unethical manner regarding how all of the layoffs and benefit changes are being handled.

CareFirst was in the Medicare Advantage market before too and didn't do very well

CareFirst use to be in the Medicaid market, but dropped it because it was a huge money loser. Not sure why we are going back in it. Medicare on the other hand will be interesting depending on who wins the 2020 election. At any rate developing a Medicare Advantage product seems to be the right direction to get back into (I think we did sell that at one point many years ago).

To the original poster: Everyone drinks Starbucks...quit being a fool! They sell Fiji water in the cafeteria and vending areas...get a clue before you start creating bad rumors. Rather than hide here, why don't you raise your hand in the Q&A sessions and ask a meaningful, thoughtful, well-contstructed question? Oh, right, you would rather complain and continue with gossip and being part of the problem rather than offering solutions. Understand where the company is before throwing rocks.

So all these layoffs and cost cutting measures to purchase two losing businesses? This is insane. Medicaid purchases of University of MD Medical System and Trusted for their losing businesses is nonsense. Less than 100,000 members purchased, again - losing money businesses. How is this a good idea? Oh, let's cust cost in revenue areas to fund losing businesses. Sounds smart. The leadership needs to be flushed - maybe a proven CEO a little older than 40 years old would help - he is also a recent college graduate. wtf!

Get out while you can. CEO is in so far over his head and flailing trying to prove he knows what he is doing. Morale is terrible. Everything is a priority so nothing is a priority. The place is a disaster and getting worse.

Did your arms fall off with that reach? To say drinking Fiji water and Starbucks coffee is out of touch and rich is quite a stretch - especially when you look around the company and see a lot of employees drinking the same things. You may not assent with the guy’s leadership like a lot of us, but at least mind your own finances. Might want to go check on that iron knee of yours. People come here for real info to see if we’re next to get let go or moved. Spare us the embellished fanfics.
