Thread regarding ADP layoffs

What happens to health coverage after being laid off?

Is it canceled immediately or are you given some time to find an alternative?

It terminates by midnight EST your last day employed. Cobra is outrageous but Marketplace is affordable.

Try the market place. It’s more than $1k less than ADP’s COBRA option.

You should be eligible for COBRA for 18 months. But like it was said, very expensive. But losing insurance due to loss of job would be considered a life changing event and you should be able to use the marketplace for coverage and not have to wait for open enrollment.

Health coverage is canceled immediately upon layoff. Yes, that does hurt.

You either go Cobra or shop around. Either way, it’s expensive.

To be honest, that's my biggest fear when it comes to being laid off. I can't afford not being covered even for a month.
