Especially if they are over 50? It sounds like a perfect opportunity to shine some light on the whole age discrimination issue, in my opinion...

You can hire the lawyer and sue, and you can also buy a lotto ticket.
You can sue if you are in a protective class and have proof you were doing what you were supposed to do. But the company would be getting tax breaks off of you so probably would stick with you or treat you differently than the rest.
Cognitive dissonance
Go to to EEOC, they determine if you have a case, nobody here does! It’s free and it doesn’t matter it it’s at will.... per the law if they have more then 11 employees they have to follow federal laws. GO, GO.... USA USA USA
No employment rights. Employment at will. Corporations own us. Debt serfs at the mercy for profit companies who's insatiable appetite for profit was vile.
You would only have a case if your job, grade and department were entitled to one. Your hiring paperwork should have stipulated as much, plus the severance info is in the HUB. If not, it is a perk not a right. I am really sorry you lost your job, I feel everyone should get something.
Good luck to everyone. this ain't social studies class. This is the US empire and the only thing that mattered was getting money and getting more money. The rest was theater.
Can you provide details? Laid off without severance, 50+. Where you in CAP?
Nothing will overturn the power structure. Voting would be illegal if it actually did anything. All rigged baby. Go opdumb and give a yo dumbvita health partners to the billionaire owners. they thank you for there 3rd yacht
"free "country" The US empire was a corporation-never was constructed as a real country. the EEOC thing-a bad joke. Press 3 for this and 18 for that, your call is impt to us (56 min later) please hold, they wont do jack excrement. The us was constructed like this. There are slaves and there are owners. If you want to know what you are–look in your wallet/bank account.
It’s FREE to file a complaint with the EEOC!
It’s a free country! Discuss your options with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Karma is beautiful!!!
You could probably sue but your lawyer fees would probably be more than the severance. Sad.
