“Special” BOD meeting this weekend to discuss immediate company saving actions that need to take place given the plunging prices. Our debt is still real. Our credit is in the tanker, we’re doomed. It’s like SWN is at the top of the building ready to jump off. No other options. I’m extremely nervous about Monday morning.
Our stock at this rate will be in double digits. We will be on a hiring spree getting the best talent available! Glory days ahead! Just like ‘ol times!!!

As of 10:12 AM CST today, 03/16/2020, SWN stock is up a whopping 13%. Yes folks! It's now at $2 !! WOOHOO!! Time to celebrate! Nill Pay and his cronies are doing something behind closed doors and whispering them to Wall Street. Why else will it be up this much on a day when DJI is down 2000 points??
In all seriousness, the management on 5 sure have been in a lot of closed door meetings lately. I don’t see how we survive this pandemic. Our debt load still remains high. We have a lot of useless tits walking around this building making too much money with nothing to do. The banks will fold and we’ll be forced into bankruptcy in the next 7-10 days. Count on it. 100%!!
Leadership will use this pandemic to clear out some people just like our CEO clears out the wash closet on 5. I know cause he gives me advance warning when he has a toilet clogger so I go to the lobby loo!

Well its Wednesday where is the "big announcement"????
It's time for changes on the SWN board since these knuckleheads hand-picked the leader, micro-manage every decision, over-rule buyout or merger deals, and have zero clue, collectively, how to grow a business in a temporarily shrinking industry.
We have a board made up of a former accountant, and another former accountant and a few leftovers from glory days in energy when any fool could look like a genius by riding the prices up. This isn't a leading edge board but instead it's a collection of Nill Pay's buddies.
Why is there not greater accountability from the board to the shareholders? It's time for some shareholder resolutions to remove Cathy and others who have done nothing to put SWN in a stronger position. It was not a stroke of genius to re-negotiate terms with lenders a few years ago as anyone in business could see that short-term loan obligations were going to strangle the company. It also was not a genius move to see an asset sale was necessary as the former fool CEO paid $5.5 billion for an asset maybe worth half that much, but the board approved this decision.
It's time to clean house on the C-suite but it begins with cleaning house on the board.

Well the CD group made sure all the doors on 5 are locked after work hours, to keep the lesser elements of SWN (read: everyone but CD) off the floor. So there’s a good use of precious G&A $
Why the hell doesn't anyone question the performance of the Commercial Development group? They have accomplished exactly nothing in years. The leader (man with two first names) gets paid $2 million per year to go to lunch and say "it's rough out there"? Why is this expensive piece of SG&A still employed, let alone his band of 10 people who do nothing but act important when none have actually accomplished anything of significance in their careers. Sorry, just watching wells in Ark. doesn't count, and being a petro engineer doesn't qualify you to run a business because you have exactly zero business understanding.
While all of HR should get eliminated since it adds no value, the real culprit here is the Commercial Development group that sold one asset for maybe a 5-10% premium but they've not done anything since selling one asset. Who's with me that Commercial Development should go?
Come on, Nill Pay, do your job and get rid of those dragging down the company. Quit firing the little people and go elephant hunting.

It's pathetic that someone is claiming to have big inside news and constantly using this forum to make themself feel important.
But this is what's wrong at SWN: too much focus on individual self importance and gratification. It all begins at the top since that's where the tone is set. Whatever small gas E&P would pay the C-suite that much? It's lunacy. There is no connection between results and compensation.
The argument that these are valuable people that others want therefore they deserve top pay is bogus. See how many ex-SWN executives have gotten hired anywhere. It's not some leadership factory chock full of talent.
If Nill really wants to go down in history as not the worst CEO ever, he should start focus on rebuilding the culture. The leadership and HR are the main drivers of culture since they set the policies, set the procedures, determine the leadership, determine the pace, decide on investments, decide on what to recognize and honor and what to punish.
Unfortunately, there are HR women reading this realizing they need to actually do something to manage culture vs. "just hire the right people" overly simplified naive thinking model that half brained Jenny advocates.
Don't blame the workers for a bad culture but then also don't be an a– at work and steal credit, make others look bad, lie and cheat, don't carry your load, complain about leadership but never contribute an idea, engage in passive aggressive behavior, deny people information or claim it's not your job. Employees are a tiny part of the problem but it all begins at the top and the C-suite is in charge of 90% of the culture.

The SWN culture post is 100% correct. But unless people walk the talk, nothing will change. Everyone is fat and happy today with their bonus payout, and will stay at SWN and allow the culture to continue because starting Monday they will be waiting for their 2021 bonus payout. By staying you are endorsing the culture - you ARE the culture - and saying it actually works. In a company of 800, 4-5 people can't be the only ones to blame, even if they are the leadership. If it is that bad, leave.

Looking at the posts about SWN, it's clear the organization is filled with anxiety, fear, disgust and maybe loathing. The past has been overly-glorified and past leaders falsely anointed with praise when in fact it was market conditions and high gas prices that drove the business, not their decisions. Likewise, Nill Pay and his band of ineffective leaders shouldn't get all of the blame for bad economics at SWN today, since they don't control gas prices.
What they do control is culture, and on that point they get a grade of "F." Nill is a horribly insecure, weird, bizarre little man who can't stand dissent or challenge to his proclamations. All signs of an ineffective leader that executive coaching can't fix. CC and Julio just nod and agree and go along with his nutty comments and constantly re-interpret for him "what Nill is really saying here is..." as if he is learning English. What Nill has is zero empathy, ability to connect with humans or any real genuineness. Lots of personality disorders at work with that guy.
CC and Julio also are guilty of creating a bad work culture, and that excuse they love to give out – "I wasn't the one in charge" – doesn't fly when you're one of the top 5 people in a company. Both CC and Julio watched their past employers go bankrupt and they were materially involved in decisions that led to bankruptcy. They have blood on their hands at SWN, and they can't wash it away despite their denials and blame-shifting.
The SWN culture is broken, rotten and smelly. HR also deserves a lot of blame here too. Carina is a pleasant id–t who has no expertise, insight or competence. Jenny is totally incompetent, wastes everyone's time, s—s up relentlessly, and can't make a decision if her life depended on it. Both deserve a lot of the blame for the bad SWN culture that results in this website being the main communications tool for the company. Life ain't fair but history will place blame where it should be.

Interesting that I came across this board.
Worked for SWN during its heyday, 2004 - 2014, when it was led by Korell followed by Mueller. Left (early retirement) right before the big move to the Taj Majal in Spring. Thought, at the time, that the company would be either bankrupt or bought out within five years.
May have missed it by a year or so, but it’s clear the “chickens have been coming home to roost” from the myriad of bad decisions made by management at the time and subsequent to my bailout. Sorry for the folks I had the pleasure to work with for what they’ve had to endure, and wish them the best no matter how things shake out.
If there is any sort of ownership change at SWN, it has to be a company with deep pockets and low debt. No way another troubled company with a mountain of debt can buy or merge or stock swap as it would further devalue. The most logical buyout would be from Equinor since they own 25% of West Virginia anyway and have the checkbook to do it. If so, get used to Norwegians taking every good job and running the show.
A merger with CHK is highly unlikely. It's looking more like a buyout from Exxon. Makes sense. Exxon wants to become a major player in natural gas and acquiring SWN at a fire sale price. Even better that SWN corporate hq is literally right down the street from the Exxon campus. This is the best possible scenario for us SWN employees. Let's hope this happens and not just another bullshiat rumor.
