2019 was a ‘great’ year, but no explanation why merit was lesser than stellar... here’s your number, there’s the door. What gives?

I think it’s fair to say it’s a bad idea for your ONLY savings and investments to be in Enbridge.... whether you are an employee or not. Personally, I plan to still be alive after North American starts to transition away from fossil fuels! Anyway, merit looked normal/average to me this year. It’s not the b—s— 1% of recent memory, but you also won’t be racing home to pop a bottle of champagne.

"As my wages and pension are already tied to the company why would i own stock in it?"

I agree... to a point. I divest myself of 2/3rds of my stock each January... but I keep 1/3rd. And over the years that's a lot of stock. It has good upside, has been kept unreasonably low, and pays an excellent dividend.

If you have no ENB and keep it that way you're missing out.

Band penetration is a joke. The determination of merit is a joke. Your in a pay band and get less merit if you are higher in band or been in position longer.
The top of the pay band is a spot you will never ever reach. Dangle a carrot your whole career.

From what i could tell when I reviewed the merit increases for my staff, I'd say they were average, maybe a little less than past years. A lot of it depends on your band penetration and, obviously, your rating.

You’ll be much better off when you just accept that the “new” Enbridge it was it is. I’m not aware of anyone that’s being forced to stay. Would I like more pay, more time off, better decisions? Absolutely I would but it doesn’t make sense for me to leave right now so I choose to put up with what’s going on. If you can’t tolerate what’s going on then it’s probably best for you to leave.

No the dividend does not help anyone that doesnt own stock. As my wages and pension are already tied to the company why would i own stock in it? Has everyone forgotten Enron? Too much tied to your company is a foolish investment.

You know, as an employee the dividend helps you out too.

What ever they announce the range to be. Rest assured 80% will get the low end of the range. After 5 yrs of minimal wage increases, yet the dividend and and the officers continue steady and regular increases. When will the employees get recognized, with inflation we make less now than we did 5 yrs ago.
