I was just let go at CTC and received 6 months of severance pay. I had 11 years at Cummins. What did others get? Anyone able to negotiate for more?

For those telling folks they can negotiate something better than the documented policy for RIFF actions are wrong. I have never seen the actual severance period negotiated successfully in my 20 years. The H&W benefits run for the period of the severance. Those who can't get their medical procedures scheduled within that time frame can take COBRA or Obamacare. Taking Obamacare is the best option because it's much cheaper than COBRA. These policies have no pre-existing clauses because of the legislation. A final point, if you haven't found a job by the time your Cummins coverage ends the Obamacare coverage will cost very little and may be free depending on what state you live in.
Do they pay severance package a/me a lump sum or distribute it over months?

My father in law was RIF'd in 2015... he was 8 months from qualifying for Medicare and negotiated continuance of health insurance until he qualified for Medicare... he also had his attorney review the severance offer before signing
Sorry to hear you got RIF'd... 11 yrs of knowledge and experience gone... that totally s—s and makes me physically ill... Cummins' loss, not yours... Cummins' severance policy is well documented and says 6 months for 10-15 yrs of service so you got what the policy states.... I've spoken with several co-workers about negotiating severance and we came to the conclusion that negotiating base severance is futile because of the well-documented policy... however, if you have upcoming medical procedures (child birth, surgery, etc) then negotiating continuance of health insurance may be justified especially if the medical procedure was scheduled before the RIF notification on Nov 16... good luck and remember, Cummins hires and fires the best of the best
Push for them to payout any vacation time you haven’t used and sign confirmation you will receive bonus check this year from 2019s earnings.
You should negotiate better severance for 11 years . Threaten them that you will sue and do not sign the paper . They will yield ! Max I have seen CMI pay is 11 months severance
5 for 8 years
