First of the year and they are shutting down 2 Cabela's stores and no comments?

About time. We placed stores where it made no sense what so ever. And to top it off could never get assortments correct.
The surprise is that it took so long to close just 2 stores. I expected this to start a long time ago, and I wonder why there haven't been more shuttered. We all know which stores have been struggling for years, even before the buyout, ahem "merger".
My shock is why closing a couple of stores took this long, by now I expected there to be a lot more. I can think of at least 10 sites that should have been closed years ago based on sales.
This is silly. The Cabela's corporation is gone. The brand was purchsed by the competitor and it will never resemble the brand that it once was. It is a BP asset...even if they keep the name the soul of the brand is gone. They will keep it as long as it is useful to them and bury when they don't see that is adding to the bottom line.
The cabelas clothing is gone.
They definitely are not burying the brand....look around any Bass Pro now its chock full of Cabela's product...try to find a Bass Pro Cooler or a Bass Pro soft gun case in a Bass Pro right now....plenty of Cabela's one's tho....among many other items...
Really? I Stopped in a Bass Pro shop just to verify your statement, and your statement is fictitious at best, I had to look long and hard to find much for Cabela's branded merchandise any where at all, not as you suggested and by implication of your statement that Cabela's branded items are taking over the Bass Pro brand and retail space. In my honest opinion the quality of Cabela's has well as Bass Pro has degraded to a hideous lack of any quality it is pathetic. Currently it rank even with the same level of quality you would find in a Walmart.
Please check your facts before you post., The Cabela's brand is dead and gone, as it has been stated numerous times before . Cabela's is being relegated to a secondary shelf name and WILL be phased out in time as will the stores and the name itself, and will soon be a distant memory and footnote in the annals of business history.

It was forecast. More to come.
This old article basically called it.

None of this should be a shock to anyone at a Cabela’s store that is currently within a reasonable driving distance to a Bass pro shop.
Some of these towns that put up money to help get these stores are going to get a little taste of the Sidney treatment....
I’m sure more to follow as they bury the Cabela brand.
With another business closing in Sidney Sam & Louie’s along with Buffalo Point. The trend is definitely downwards.
I assume it's because no one is surprised?
Cabela’s is dead. Their just burying the bodies now.
What is there to comment about, we all knew this was coming. No big surprise here.
