This is getting really tiring. Once again we find out about layoffs and once again we are forced to wait for days (weeks) to find out any more details. The latest news is we'll know more by the end of this week, but I'm not willing to bet on it.
Why do they keep doing this to us?
Layoffs are happening, not because of the workers not working, it's because of there enability to sell and to promote a product. They think they can survive of the SunGard name. We suffer because they continue to do NOTHING. I see no hope. I work hard each day in a data center watching customers leave each month. Just my 2 cents.

At least 4-5 upper-level IT and mid-management in Houston got walked out. Couple of upper-level IT in Thornton got whacked, too.

For many people, it is more complicated than that.
Nobody is forcing anyone to stay employed there. The state of layoffs isn’t new, it might be hitting departments or geographies that it didn’t before - but nobody that has worked there more than a year or two should be shocked that it happens. If you are uncomfortable working in a company like that then leave on your own terms and find a job somewhere else. It’s not any more complicated than that.
Its Thursday. Operations will definitely get hit and likely product. Also hearing about a re-org as well.
one can hope some of the products that millions of dollars are being dumped into that are not selling get axed as well. there is a cost savings right there.

I hate if half of this is true. There are a lot of great people still left at Sungard AS and I do miss working there under the circumstances and with the teams that I worked with years ago. I hope everyone gets a good severance and finds something new quickly that is an improvement for them and their family.
I’m sure our customers are also eagerly awaiting to see what happens with the layoff ... with every lay-off the level of service to the customer decreases ..... I’m surprised a lot of them are even still around ... their complaints always fall on upper managements deaf ears

I think the LT can't agree on a go forward plan so we all sit around watching the place fall apart until they can come up with a plan.
This also why you will be getting your annual performance review with no mention of a merit increase. There may be no increase at all but first we need a plan to complete the budget.
