Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Merger is inching closer

I have to admit I'm one of the (judging by this forum) few who is hoping the deal doesn't go through. Mergers always, and I mean always end up in major layoffs. And while some might be consolidation related, the companies usually use the opportunity to lay off plenty more people in the mix.

Trust me, if the deal goes through nobody is safe. Why would anybody be cheering this on is beyond me.

Unfortunately layoffs will happen whether there’s a merger or not. Both companies are underwater, financially. I wish the best for each and every one of you and hope you all land something better, whether within the merged company or elsewhere.

The merger will happen and MH will be CEO. It’s already been decided.

If the merger does happen, MH will not be CEO. If anything, he’ll be a powerless figurehead with the PE’s calling the shots.
