Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Nobody is safe!

if you made it through the first round of firings, this is NO guarantee you will make it with this company. It's a company that can't be trusted in any way. They can just as easily change their minds or receive commands from great leader that more cuts are needed - and if your making to much money..or someone doesn't like you for w/e reason.. You are probably going to be targeted. If your in the Nashville division - you have absolutely ZERO job security from moment to moment no matter how good you are, how well your store is running, no matter how much money it's making. You need to be looking for a new job right now.. and saving up a rainy day fund -don't wait.. If they start coming in and finding fault (the same faults that are every where here in other stores that are not being written up..) and start giving you paper write ups.. your on your way out one way or another..

Perfectly stated, @12nn0IVa-9mts.

This is not a company that cares or values their employees, the people on the front lines making them their 121 billion. It's about their shareholders, failing business deals and being on top. All the talented a nd well seasoned employees will leave eventually if not fired or laid off leaving them with an inexperienced work force that's a joke. Good luck Kroger.

"74k a year.." Are you a store manager or topped out ASM? I'm not sure 74k (which is good money..) would put you on the list for layoffs due to salary being to high. My spouse made 6 figures as a SM - that's one of a couple of reasons we believe they were targeted and ended up resigning.

I’m in management at Kroger stores in the Pacific Northwest...I make roughly 74,000 per year...and I know it’s too much (in the eyes of the powers that be that is) ...once Christmas is over my priority will be landing a new job! It’s sad really...the company is loosing so many awesome, hard working people..

Thanks..I wish It wasn't true.. No matter what your DM or anyone else tells you - they are likely lying. You should start looking for employment (especially if your suddenly feeling targeted) while you have a job as your more attractive to other employers if your currently employed.
