Any idea when hiring freeze will be over?

Possibly March for a revaluation of spending is what I heard. but the health insurance tax never being implemented is a big boost but employees will not see that unless you own stock which jumped on the news.
profit improves? 200 billion isn't enough profit? the hiring freeze? so they can hire staff from other countries. Watch who is on your cues. It is people from other countries India or others not the US workers and they don't understand our language and what the expectations are of the job. But they get hired cheaply. Unless members and clients complain it won't change.
Medicare for all is responsible for all these layoffs. it's an election year for the president. So the talk of eliminating private health insurance for Medicare for all will influence UHG to make decisions that affects all employees jobs. UHG is making billions in profit every quarter and they are laying off. it's the political environment
In the areas I support, Operational leaders are only being allowed to hire to support new business or to meet specific contract requirements i.e. state residency requirements.
Even then, those positions are only being posted internally and they are being required or strongly encouraged to look for redeployment opportunities for staff impacted by layoffs. This may not be the case for all areas of Optum...
In some departments when people have given their notice we are told "they are not being replaced." Job security for those left behind?
