I wish I could say it has been all roses and sunshine after being laid off from the job I loved to wake up every morning too. It’s taken a while to process the decisions that were made and not be angry. One year later I can now say, I found a job I like, don’t feel underemployed, and feel I have job security finally. No more endless rounds of demoralizing RIF’s, endless new first line managers and micromanaging. Maybe it was all an endurance test? Who knows...

Life after Allscripts is grand...not having to dread going into the toxic sludge hole everyday has done wonders for psyche. Definitely encourage anyone still there to get out with your dignity intact before the company inevitably lets you go.
These days some employers take a jaundiced view toward potential hires who been with a single company for a long time. Instead of being a positive, showing loyalty etc, it is sometimes seen as a negative indicating that the person is "set in their ways" does not like new challenges etc.
@12u43400-1xwm Those days stopped around 40 - 50 years ago for most people. If you've been with a company for more than a decade, you're the exception not the norm.
“ US have "employment at will" laws that mean a company can terminate/layoff employees at any time.”
Um, it’s a 2 way street: employees self-terminate at any time.
It's sad but the only loyalty in today's corporate environment is to yourself. Many states in US have "employment at will" laws that mean a company can terminate/layoff employees at any time. So, Look out for yourself. No one and especially no company will. Gone are the days where people worked for the same company for their entire careers and loyalty to one's employer was rewarded.
Endurance test? More like a period of self-flagellation. Congratulations!
