US land now short handed and asking some of those let go to come back. Hard to believe! That was really a cost saver! Whoever made the decision to lay-off in the first place should be the one looking for a job. Hope everyone asked to come back tells them where to go.
If California and Rocky Mountain District don’t get the work they are expecting in January both places will be gutted.
You know they do. If you are not on a rig you are on the list.
Guaranteed they have a January layoff list.
Well said.
Have been told by customers in ND that the loss of experience will hurt Baker.
Have to laugh at the incompetence in Aberdeen office losing all the drilling work. Who hired these clowns
You cannot manage an oilfield services company or district without a solid hands on knowledge of oilfield operations. That means experience. Not college. You have to know where you fit in the value chain and you just cannot learn that in college.
Aberdeen is a good example of this failed one baker concept. They used to be a big player in North Sea drilling but exited that market after management didn’t know how to run the business in that sector.
Problem with baker is the people at the top don’t realise they were the problem. The switch to one baker or baker one or whatever they called it was the start of the decline. People were put in positions they knew nothing about and didn’t know how to manage that function. Anyone with half a brain could see this.
They clearly can't survive on their own. But nobody wants them. First Halliburton dropped them, now GE drops them. They want the money from these companies, but that is all. Their management is good enough (yeah how is that working for them)
The writing is on the wall. If you have the chance to leave. leave!
Merry Christmas from Baker Corporate!
There will be layoffs throughout all the US land divisions.
