Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

How cruel is this?

Having layoffs so close to Christmas, ruining the holidays for so many people...and why? It's not as if layoffs are going to actually solve any of our issues. We all know this is a temporary solution at best...

It's really disheartening to see how little this company cares about all of us...

Worked for Cummins many years and ethics in our plant wasn't it's strong point and it was directed down from corporate. Yes, you had to take an ethics course on-line but, it end when you passed. In practice, forget it. The more H1Bs from India that were hired the worst it was. They were more interested in their next job promotion than the customer or doing whats right, yes people. And remember India is a strong class society and I believe they carried to Cummins when hired.

As the one commentor said, the FIRST ROUND will be done by Janurary. That tells me that they are expecting more rounds of layoffs.

I know, never and I do mean never trust Cummins. Most of the new engineers are from overseas and as many have said they know they can get rid of them in a few years and don't pay them as much.

I worked at Cummins from 1999-2015 and saw the exact same kind of layoffs in 2000, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012 and a virtually identical layoff in 2015 in which they got me and 2000 other salaried employees. Since there have been so many of us hit like this for the last couple of decades and now are dispersed throughout the industry, the word has gotten out and only uninformed professionals will even take a chance on this company. The only engineers or programmers that they can even attract are the H1B Indian and Chinese workers that only have to care about a job for 3 years, or those in the industry that can't get on anywhere else.

Cummins has been doing this for many years, and at the holidays. They do not deserve hard-working loyal people. Most people aren't aware of how often this has happened in the past, until it happens to them. Especially the younger employees. Glassdoor, Indeed, etc. are all full of "positive" recent reviews since most of the negative ones are sc-apped. Future employees need to be warned of this constant trend of layoffs and no loyalty to its workers; however, they will continue to give more and more visas to Indian and Chinese employees since they can get them much cheaper, and they are more than willing to come to the USA and reap the benefits.

I am hearing that the layoffs will commence and conclude within the first quarter.

The key takeaway about working at Cummins is NEVER trust them, NEVER let your guard down and always look out for number one. Unless you are Executive Director level or higher, you are a pawn. They will screw you over whenever it benefits their needs. Give them NO loyalty for they will give you none.
