Rapid Response Planned for Workers Impacted by Recent Layoff in Duncan
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) and other partner agencies are teaming up to help those affected by recent layoffs at Halliburton in Duncan.
An event will be held Wednesday, December 11 at the Red River Technology Center campus located at 3300 W. Bois D’Arc , Duncan, OK 73534.
The event will include help for affected workers
We will meet in Room B108-110 in the Business Center. Sessions related to Rapid Response will be held at 10: 00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
We are inviting anyone affected by this layoff to attend this event. This is an opportunity for these folks to get the assistance they deserve in what is a difficult time. Oklahoma is open for business and we stand ready and able to help those impacted.”
Rapid Response activities are designed to respond quickly to employer, employee and community needs when a layoff and/or plant closure appears imminent. The objective of Rapid Response is to help workers transition from notification of layoff to re-employment as quickly as possible.
We are reaching out to Halliburton employees in the area to provide rapid response services for you. A rapid response program is designed to give information to lay-off employees in subjects such as Unemployment Insurance, Reemployment, Training and Education opportunities, Health Insurance, available jobs in the area, and other community services available. Presentations usually take about 2 hours, but we are very flexible.
There are other training and service resources as well. OESC has a Dislocated Worker Grant for workers in various industries including Oil and Gas. That grant, depending on a person’s eligibility, can help pay for specific training, on-the-job training, supportive services, and career assistance. OESC will have representatives who can speak about the grant in more detail at Wednesday’s event or you may contact OESC directly at EconomicTransitionDWG@oesc.state.ok.us or 405-557-5371.
