Anyone know of people being retrenched since the announcement. As per usual they are giving nothing away and with Christmas fast approaching, I can't imagine they would so stupid as to request people take holidays, then tell them they don't have a job upon their return in January or February.. i am going to guess it would be in the last week prior to holidays, it just doesn't make sense to work out AOP for next year when there would still be people to be made redundant. Surely they will close this out prior to new year. I have heard a lot of rumours that EBU and PGEN would get hit the hardest but no good sources

I agree on the getting out of Cummins, the fact they have to go through mass retrenchments all the time is a huge failure by them to correctly forecast the market. The company is too top heavy and overcrowded with directors and managers, I would agree there are plenty of people who landed a management role at Cummins and will never leave because they have no real achievements, they will just try float through undetected by not speaking up and supporting their reports. Easy to find these managers by looking at the staff turnover but for whatever reason it's never questioned, I think this goes into the too hard basket that no one wants to tackle. If I was a shareholder I would certainly question the lack of customer facing staff and the need to have such a large pool of directors and managers... Cummins growth has not been because of any stellar performance by directors, it's been more so competition deciding not to compete anymore, caterpillar being an example of this by pulling out of the automotive market... All I can say is try not to be too upset if you are retrenched, recognise its nothing to do with your performance and more to do with a lack of performance and direction from management... For those that don't get retrenched, spend some time and consider if this is the type of company you want to work for and if not, use the opportunity to start looking for a good company with a solid reputation of staff retention.. while reading many posts, large amounts of management seems to be a common theme across the globe... Cummins, integrity,. diversity, inclusion, caring but remember this only applies to top level management..
‘I figured out rather quickly that to avoid being on the list of layoffs you need to be rubbing shoulders with the leadership team - your work does not matter at Cummins. It’s all about who you know and who you talk to. ’ -may I ask, are other companies like this too? #saddoglife
Have worked for Cummins for almost 20 years, UK side of the company. Fortunately the employment law over here prevents the company acting with redundancies in the same manner as the U.S, but it still happens. Fully expected the axe to be getting sharpened over thanksgiving and have heard the intent is to get started before year end. Will take them 3 months to conclude in Europe, assume this is why the company has stated all action complete by end of Q1 2020.
This will happen every year - layoffs. It’s what Cummins does. I used to work for Cummins ( 10yrs) and not a year went by when I did not see layoffs . saw13 layoffs in 10 years I was there.
They wereAble to avoid the layoffs last 3 years because people got fed up with the management, the yearly re-orgs and false promises and just left. ( 2017-2018 )
I can’t say enough about how happy I am now working somewhere else. I am valued and don’t have to worry about mediocre management running the show just to make sure they get a paycheck- trust me they will never leave because they know no one will hire them and if they do, they won’t last long in other companies as they are good for nothing.

The reason is the poor management. So either you become like them or they will show you the door one day.
Luckily for me I got fed up and made the right decision to leave. ( should have done that earlier)
The point is for those who have not seen this at Cummins, even if you make it start preparing and get yourself out of there ASAP.
I feel the bloodletting starts after Q4 results. Merry Christmas!
Has anyone heard which locations are getting hit the hardest?
I have been with CMI for almost 20 years. I am used to this happening in the middle of December and for the remote workers they usually are asked to come to the office for a face to face and then they are told (but already deep down know). I have never personally known of a redundancy cut in January. Now that the announcement has been made, they know they need to do it and quickly to get people back to work and quit talking about it.
Have heard of meetings with bosses (who normally never meet with their employees) being set up for next Friday 12/13/19. Personally, I am VERY suspicious that this may be the beginning of the bloodletting as it is the end of pay period.
I totally agree, they would want to get those people out before next year. But then again they can still have them come back next year thinking they aren't getting fired but then they notice their work is getting less and less and this is usually a sign of your gone real soon.
