Thread regarding Web.com Group Inc. layoffs

Siris overpaid for Web ($2 billion? Finance staff will tell you themselves the company wasn't worth half of that) and they want their money. Meanwhile Denise Lynch (who has forced her staff to lie repeatedly about numbers) is still employed. I for one enjoy watching this ship sink further.

Sharon... I think you forgot the main reason Web was struggling in the first place. You stated "but with the same level of quality we deliver to our customers today". The problem is you should be delivering BETTER service to your customers. Bottom line is management got greedy and had a c-ap product (Yodle). I absolutely loved working for Web prior to being to forced to work on Yodle. I had pride in where I worked and what I did, then it became an embarrassment and we were embarrassed to be working on a product that didn't really care about the clients. Management didn't care, they just cared about their new Teslas, Volvos, Lexus and BMWs 🙄 it's really ashame that Web lost the best employees they had to layoffs or people finding better opportunities with other companies.

Today we announced some updates to our business strategy that allow Web.com to continue to grow, reduce costs, and maintain a high level of quality for our customers.

As part of our go-forward plan, we made the decision to reduce our team sizes to better match the volume of work we have. We are also taking advantage of our global footprint to move some roles into other office locations where they can be done more cost effectively, but with the same level of quality we deliver to our customers today. Lastly, we made the decision to wind down our operations in Yarmouth in 2020. As a result of these decisions, a number of positions across the company have been impacted.

While these changes are difficult, it is important to understand that this does not mean that all positions will eventually move to a lower-cost location. We firmly believe that there is a need to maintain local resources in our core offices. It is also critically important for all of our team members to know that these decisions were not a reflection of those impacted, nor the value they brought to the organization.

We’d like you to know that we are supporting our impacted team members in a number of ways throughout this transition period, and after they leave Web.com. Additionally, we are working in collaboration with Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) as well as the Nova Scotia Department of Business to explore opportunities for our talented workforce, and we are optimistic about the possibility of transitioning the Yarmouth office to a new owner. We still recognize how difficult the coming weeks and months will be for our impacted employees, and we ask all team members to respect their privacy during this time.

You left out the part where we may have to train our replacements or the severance package can be taken away. I also heard that Web.com is trying to sell the Yarmouth building and employees to a new company if this goes through and the employees stay they lose their severance package. I know Backoffice was given the we have to let you go speach, notice as was the chat teams and Tech services.

We knew this day was coming. It was just a matter of time. There was such an incredible lack of hiring in hazleton, that all signs pointed to it.
When Helen said she was in the Philippines, I knew our days were numbered.

What did everyone think would happen when the company was purchased by the private equity firm, or acquired a company with a giant operations center in the Philippines, or a did a hundred other things that all pointed to this day and a lot more days like it to come?

The writing has been on the wall for a long time.. and there's a lot more writing still in my opinion.
