Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

New hires?

I've been working at Cummins for less than a year and now the news of this layoff comes and I have started worrying about my job. Does anyone know if in past layoffs cycles the new hires were more or less at risk?

Cummins is a dog eat dog world - agreed. But what if other companies r also like that? If yes, what’s the point of jumping to another company again but having same issue?

If the newbie works on extra project (which other Cummins employees with longer tenure are working on too though) with Cummins Leadership Team, will the newbie still be under threat?

"Last In First Out is a typical policy used in Cummins."

Correct. They do that to avoid lawsuits from the older employees who are let go. Balances the age spectrum just a little bit. Depends on a lot of other factors though. If you think your position's threatened, this might be the time to update your LinkedIn.

Last In First Out is a typical policy used in Cummins. Kinda depends on how long your teammates have been around and whom your manager recommends to HR. Cummins is a dog-eat-dog world. I saw this in 2015. Fully expect this to happen again.

They don't care, being new is even better because they haven't invested enough time in you yet. Even though they don't care about people who they invested decades in.

Back in 2015 when I had just started (Left earlier this year), I saw someone get let go with only 3 months of employment there. She ended up at Microsoft so I guess it worked out. But she was IT.

Don't know if more or less but I know for sure they were at risk as well. I know for a fact that one co-worker new hired was fired.
